desire hd or IP4 ?

Gets me when people say you can't do much with it as long as you are willing to jail break the I4(not illegal now) you can make it look how you want, look at the star trek theme in the video below looks great.

You have to put this into perspective though - Getting android to do changes to the UI menu system doesn't require jailbreaking or any other trick that involves killing your warranty. Also unless times have changed everyone tries to sell their iphone in June, you'll get a better price if you do it a little earlier.

If you want to find out what a phone is like do the obvious thing - go try one in a shop.

If you want major changes on Android you have to root simple as, loading custom roms etc, you can put launcher pro on but they are not major changes its just stock android.

You are right though easiest way is to try them in the shops but if the OP has a I4 there is no reason to go on a Desire HD, if he wants Android that bad wait for the new dual core phones, I certainly wouldn't look at the DHD now as a replacement for the I4.

This is true, at this moment in time it is certainly not worth upgrading ANYTHING.

With regard to what you said about Jailbreaking, a Jailbroken iPhone is often nasty to use compared to a stock one, a lot of the apps are considerably worse than what are on the Android Market, and many of them dont work properly and look awful.

If you Jailbreak an iPhone, you should have got an Android equivalent phone instead :)

Had Android been there and done that bored of it, can't say I have had any issues with my I4 jail broken silky smooth and I pay for apps anyway from App Store so no problems here.

Well, a couple of weeks ago you had an Omnia 7 which you said was 'way better than the iPhone', so you've changed your tune again :p

You'll be on Android again soon with an SGS2, mark my words.

Samsung Galaxy S 2 (may well be out in 3 weeks), beats the iPhone 4 and Desire HD. I wouldn't personally (having done so :p) change the iPhone 4 for a DHD.

Android is different now, far better than it used to be.

Beats ?

All three do the same job no worse than each other, the current releases of Android just don't need more CPU power, at least not for Gmail :)

All the dual core cpu's really do from what I can see is offer 1080p recording and playback, personally I would like to see 720p on par with a proper cam corders than have half soaked 1080, its all about numbers sadly to sell.

yep, and with a lens / sensor the size of a grain of sand whats the point in that resolution :)

phone makers will never put really nice camera gear on phones, they would lose their camera business sales

The new dual-core phones (along with their other features) are going to be better than the current phones. The 1080p looks very good, the 720p looks even more stable than it has previously too. The extra CPU power comes in useful for a variety of things. The screens are superior too, as is the battery (on the Samsung at least).

You can of course argue the iPhone is better still as its an entirely different OS so thats fair enough.

I've got a DHD (chose this over the IP4) and (with the exceptions of a short battery life) couldn't be happier with it.

Android seems to be pretty stable and very customisable should you wish to go down that root (see what I did there?)

to be fair, the battery life on the dhd is no worse than the iphone4. saying that though, its not really any better either.

The DHD battery IS considerably worse than the iPhone 4 battery. However, it is nowhere near as bad as people in the past have made out.
