My Life Feels Empty Somewhat...

I'm yawning here, you obviously like to fap over FB, go ahead I won't waste any sleep over it :D

Just because you're a luddite, doesn't mean social networking isn't useful. Do you have a mobile phone? Do you use email?

You're probably one of those people that said in the nineties that the internet would never be used for serious business, or that internet shopping wouldn't take off... etc.

not at all. I just don't like the idea of plastering photo's personal comments and general convo's on a website that is viewed by millions of people. Fair enough you can block who you want or everyone but Im pretty sure that if you wanted to get some info on me even with this feature something would have been ripped out and plastered over google or something.

Its just the regular paranoid side of me I guess :D

OK, so about 3-4 days ago, I decided enough is enough and deactivated my Facebook, I have no intention of going back on it, fed up to the back teeth of all the **** it causes, and the fact that people moan and moan about it. Thought I would jack it in and be done with it. It feels good, but my life feels somewhat empty now. My internet 'routine' has changed, from Facebook -> OCUK to just OCUK...

Anyone else decided to give up on Facebook?

Seriously thinking about it.

Actually i'm just going to scale it down to bare details so that people can e-mail me if they want to keep in touch.

Nah, it's too useful. And sometimes really handy to access the hive-mind!

You do need to fill the void though, clearly. My default answer nowadays is to try dancing (surprise, surprise). Seriously though - it's real-life connection with real-life people - the first thing you do is hold someone's hand :)

No you aren't alone.

I just block everyone that irritates me so my wall updates are usually from people I want to read.

Is it possible to just block updates from peoples stupid crap fb games man that really annoys me but tbh I cba spending any time to figure things out.

I just block the person and since everyone seems to play these stupid games it means most people are blocked.

I wouldn't deactivate it as I do use it for contact with distance friends and family. It has its uses but in no way am I addicted and it hasn't replaced p2p networking IRL :D

Some of the drama on there is absolutely ridiculous. This is why you are able to block and delete morons posts from hitting your news feed. Which I have done.

If you like me, enjoy a good lol at noobs once in a while, leave the updates visible and troll randommers comments. It can be fun :D

Click the X on the corner, it will give you the option to hide that post, the person (from then onwards) or the app (from then onwards).

Stupid statment is stupid, i'm the complete opposite of a luddite and i think FB is for nothing but idiots that have no idea of the power of the internet. Why the **** would i want to have my life plastered all over the internet for all to see?? In fact i would go as far to say that real smart internet users know to keep well away from social networking sites.

It's not plastered all over the Internet unless you want it to be, the people you do allow to see content can only see what you post.

I think it is time for a facebook prune, or at least to stick a load of people I don't actually talk to anymore into a don't talk to group

I joined for a while but I ended up having loads of people that I didn't even like being auto added to my friends list because I was connected to them in some way, even my manager ended up appearing on my list, I felt like my privacy was being invaded, terrible place, it just feels like a place for people that like to have a digital alter/shrine of themselves for people to worship or ****.
