hey all my other computer has a BFG 680sli Mobo i want to upgrade the cpu at the moment it has a q6600 but i was wondering if Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 would work.

I have googled the question but cannot really find a answer.

If that wont work what other cpu will do? or would it be worth keeping the q6600 and getting faster HDD and ram/GFX card also.

Thanks!

Im afraid it wont as the 680i chipset dosent support 45nm quad cores. There are a few quicker 60nm quads but wouldnt be a worthwhile upgrade from what you have. You should get 3Ghz out of your quad if you clock it.

What GFX card are you using at the moment?

iv got 3ghz already out of it already. i have a 8000gtx with 4gb OCZ Vista Upgrade PC2-5400C5 ram

Wll GFX wise you could pick up a 2nd 8800GTX for SLI which will give something around GTX280 performance, or just get a single cad like the GTX460 which will be faster still.
