Neighbours with hardons about treating public road spaces as their own

Where we live most people park on the road at the front of their house, even though everyone has parking spaces at the back of the houses. People don't own the part of public road outside their house that they park on but we, and the neighbours, follow common courtesy and tend to only park in front of our own house. Obviously if we can't do this then we just park wherever possible but from day to day you tend to see the same cars in the same spots on the road.

Oh and still don't get where hardons come into it?! Can't say I have ever got a hardon from people parking outside our house or me parking outside someone elses house

Then one day the old man banged on our door and told us we cant park there because it was obscuring our drive

Sense make does not

this winds me up. if people don't want someone to park outside their house then they should get a driveway put in, that way, nobody can park outside the house as it's obstructing the driveway etc.

Blimey, how posh are you not knowing there are houses called Terraced Houses :)

The terraced houses on my estate all have front gardens big enough for driveways......

There is a neighbour who has double yellows outside his house, so parks in front of our house because he thinks it winds me up. He has two cars and can park quite easily in his back yard (he does in the night because people keep keying his car (funny that  ) but insists on getting up, driving around to the front of the house during the day and parking in froont of ours where the double yellows stop and then inching forward to be as inconvenient to the other neighbours as he can and try to stop them parking in front if there is a gap large enough for a car.

He doesn't work and lives entirely off his mother. He is 50 years old and hasn't worked a day in his life, so you can imagine my opinion of him. What I find funny is that by the time I get home, I either park in the street opposite (10 meters walk?) or in another spot further down the road.

I guess he thinks he is "getting one up" on me as he has already tried reporting me for parking on double yellow lines. (My OH has disabled badges, so we park outside his house for three hours at a time when there is nowhere else to park) He is also forever walking around my car taking photos of the tax and the front of the house.

Some people are just weird. My revenge is by not rising to the bait. I love having a laugh as I walk to my car and see his downstairs light go off and the curtain twitch. I always give a little wave :)

i park where ever is closest to the house im going to, but if i can avoid it i wouldn't park infront of someones house if i know they have a car.

no one has their name on a space but its common courtesy.

Speak to the local council and ask them to put a marked disabled bay at the front of your house (possibly with your house number) and get it right up him :)

My neighbour parks out on the road, even though he has a driveway, this irritates me quite a lot because it means I have to park further away.

What was the outcome of that btw Morba? Read the whole thread on PH, but doesn't say that's happened since the 23rd!

Sat at work so looking to kill time! I feel like I've spoilt the ending for you now Morba!! ;)

Muncher, update us fella! :D

It ends like a US TV series that gets chopped before the end! Left on a cliff hanger of the night of the 23rd.
Did the golf see xmas?
Was the road crammed with the nimbys family visiting?

stay tuned folks......

Same bat time, same bat channel?!

Come on Muncher, did you end up buying a camper van?! ;)

Its fine where i live. Neighbour has space for 2 cars cause she has two 'paths' for cars and shes fine if we park there.

We have let people park on our drive, if anyone needs to go out just ask and they move it for you.

Some dick has parked right across my driveway right now (well since 5pm) and I've had to park up the road.
However it's good news because the neighbours from hell are being evicted and the Bailiffs are in so I don't want to aggravate anything.

One of lifes pleasures. :)

[Internet warrior]If someone parked bumper to bumper against my car because I parked on "their land" I admit I'd find it hard to not go MC Hammer on their window to release their handbrake.[/Internet warrior]

Also anyone else find the notion of "I don't want your car parked in front of my house, so I'm going to imbolise it using my two cars" a bit stupid and non-sensical?
