I'm looking to buy a new amp and floor standing speakers.
The amp will be used for:
PC - Music (lots of it)
TV
DVD/Blu-ray

Amp wise I was thinking about the CAMBRIDGE AUDIO AZUR 840A V2
Speaker wise I was thinking about the CAMBRIDGE AUDIO S70's

This works out at about £800. What the thoughts on this Cambridge Audio equipment, I have had some other Cambridge Audio equipment - A5 amp and S30 speakers - have to say I thought the quality and sound was excellent, blew me away, but then I am no expert!

Could I get better from the £800 intended for this lot?

Edit:

I should mention that the Amp must have a remote :P

Buy 2nd hand? I did this and I am very pleased I did that with the amp. The speakers I bought new but got them when end of line so was massively reduced from rrp. If I was you I would go listen to some different makes, for example have a look at NAD's offerings and see what you prefer. After I listened to a few makes I decided I liked Cambridge Audio and went for a 540A which I bought for £120 2nd hand.

£800 will get you an awful lot second hand. I haven't explored the market for a while but it afforded my amp and speakers in my sig. Lots of lovely British made amps within your price bracket.

Saying that the CA stuff is well received.

I am thinking about going and having a listen to some stuff. What other makes would you suggest to take a look at?

Cyrus, rotel, linn, naim and arcam amongst others. Linn and naim might be a but older kit but will generally be in good condition as enthusiasts tend to buy from these manufacturers.

I wouldn't necessarily be put off by the age of the kit. My CD player is well over 10 years old, and I still think I'd do well to better it for the price I paid a few years back. It hasn't missed a beat since I've owned it.

Speakers have to be floor standing.

I do like the look of the Naim stuff.

I should have mentioned that the Amp must have a remote :p
