Hi all. :D

My friend has had a new-ish Fiesta for 3 days, and mashed it into a metal pillar in a multi storey car park... :o

She's done the wheel arch in which is deformed and is missing lots of paint, as well as damage to the rear passenger door.

What do you guys reckon a body shop would charge to put right? Pictures below.

Depends where she takes it. It's difficult to make out the extent of the damage on the door, but I arranged a similar repair for a neighbour with a much bigger dent in the rear door for £200 but this was "mates rates" - this repair is still good today.

I'd expect to pay around £300 somewhere cheap? You can probably at least double that if you want to take it to a Ford approved bodyshop, which may or may not be worth it if there is a significant portion of the anti-corrosion warranty left and she's kept up with the yearly inspections.

Depends on a number of things, such as the paint, how much time they will need to put in etc.

Pop to local body shops and ask for a quote.

The estimates here seem a little conservative to me, but probably doable on the cheap end of the scale. I had a cheap job done once and within 6 months the clear coat was bubbling :( Sometimes its better to pay slightly more for a better job :)

I would go with £400 for a basic repair but a whole side repaint would be much more

We paid £450 for an entire side of a C5, which is a bigger car and a year later it still looks good, so thats why I guessed that. There are loads of places who will quote silly money because they want the insurance to pay out. That way they can make triple what they would charge a normal punter.

£400-600, mate did similar to his clio and I went with him to get it quoted, They wanted £500 to do a bit of smoothing and fillering, hammer out the dent and respray half the car.

I love these "how much will it cost" threads.

What ever happened to just going to your local mechanic/bodyshop/tyre fitter and getting a quote?!

Looks like a few hundred quids worth of damage however my fiances sister had similar damage and it was repaired for £150 - did a good job too!

I got the rear 3/4 panel resprayed for about £150 for a cash in hand job with a bodyshop.

Presumably it will need filling / rolling to correct the crease and the door needs a repaint as well so £400 to £500 seems reasonable. Places may quote more though - but shop around.

My wife bumped a fiesta while she was reversing a couple of months ago which put a fair old dent in the door but no other panel and it ended up costing nigh on £400 to get that sorted, so I would have thought this would be around the £800 mark at least surely? Isn't the rear quarter panel the worst one to get repaired because of blending in and not being readily replaceable or something?

it's very hard to price this without seeing it in the flesh.

only option is to go out and shop around. The advice on the corrosion warranty is worth listening to.

I'd reckon around the £500 mark for that at your average bodyshop. They will want to fill and respray the door and rear quarter panel as well as blend into adjacent panels as black generally can be very difficult to blend.

It is hard to tell from the pictures but if the wheel arch is massively deformed then they may want to replace the rear quarter. My estimate above does not include a new panel but you're looking at a fair few man hours to repair it.

Get several quotes as you're in luck at present if you don't want to go through insurance as many bodyshops are ridiculously quiet and will provide lower than normal quotations to get work through the door.
