Reason is i play Call of Duty and the expansion United offensive i installed 10.5 or 6 and the game would crash on start up rolled back to 10.4 playable again.

Just a bought a second 5870 and would like to update the drivers, big ask i spose anyone else still play the old call of duty series and on the newer drivers?

wouldn't bother with anything past 10.11 tbh, past 3 sets of drivers have been utter crap (since they released CCC2 coincientally) Flash on websites crashes the video driver all the time, alt tab in and out of fullscreen apps also has a really long delay.....of course that may just be me struggling with them. Though it occoured both before and after a full reinstall.

Yip, fired up COD2 the other day and ran just fine. Just fired up COD1 and UO to test, again no probs. 11.2s btw ;)

Crossfire might be different tho, suck it and see m8 but you dont need a second 5870 to play any of those titles anyway.

Interesting i'll try it out i know i don't need a second one to play uo ;) want to try out the newer games with crossfire.

Don't forget to get latest CAP :)

Edit: btw m8, the ole trick with older games and crossfire was to simply rname the .exe file to a known working one, for example, rename CoDUOMP.exe to hl.exe iirc

Thanks for that, auraindigo you on crossfire or just the one card?

I may try the one card when updating first see how it goes.

You can be fairly confident that most people that complain about crap drivers, that the problem is not the driver but PEBKAC!

In 5 years with ATI gpu's, I have only ever had issues with 1 driver.

Do not blame software that gets certified by Microsoft every month as high quality for your incompetences!

Incompetence why thanks i'll bare that in mind.

If thats the help you can give trust me

Each to their own experience but personally apart from idle clocks being a bit stubbornly high, I haven't had any other problems - ever, and I've had a lot of ATI cards. I found 10.5 - 10.10 (I think) problematic with regard to idle clocks, though from 10.11 its been plain sailing. :)

Just one m8, never come across a scenario where I felt I needed more than one.

As others have mentioned with regards to having no driver probs, add me to that list. 3rd ATi card in a row with zero probs thus far. Mind, had no probs with Nvidia drivers before that neither, lucky I guess :)

Make sure that if you're installing a new driver package without uninstalling the last (which seems common practise here, though not officially recommended), you need to reset the driver settings to defaults once the new version is installed. This will prevent many possible issues as the settings from old drivers often remain, and as things are changed it can reduce performance and compatibility.
