Hi all,

Looking to make the jump as above, and I'm a little scared to leave my Apple bubble if I'm honest. :p

I do like my iPhone, I mainly use it for texting, navigation via Google Maps and for music via Spotify Premium.

I have a few questions:

- What will I miss from the iPhone? I can't think of anything aside from build quality.

- What is texting like from the San Francisco? I do it a lot, and would like to maintain good functionality.

I just want to know if I'm making the right choice. Any help would be appreciated!

I'm not sure I'd change from a 3GS to a San Francisco.

Its a great little phone but I doubt you would see the benefits of it in your general use.

Have a look at the HTC Desire or Samsung Galaxy S (assuming you dont want to spend a lot, there are a load of new Android phones coming soon), they are both considerably better than a SF and I'd rank them both comfortably above the 3GS.

Not after spending much, one of the reasons is to free up some cash.

To be honest I've had the iPhone for a year, I'm as bad with my phones as I am with my cars, constantly swapping. :p

Not to fussed about any benefits really, as long as it'll do the same things and not be a pain in the backside to text from. :)

Sure, the iPhone to San Fran is not a leap you'd want to take. Certainly, I'd buy a San Fran to evaluate Android, but it's a fairly poor performing phone hardware wise and will frustrate you coming from an iPhone. You'd want a Nexus / Desire (maybe x10) at the very least

3gs has a cortex a8 processor + sgx 535.

Massive jump down.

However, the OS alone just might be worth it and for £100 you can't really go wrong.

I had a 3gs and went to the HTC Desire and was happy with the move, my wife has a San Fransisco and I would have cried if I had gone from the 3gs to that :(, not saying the San fran is a bad phone for the price but its not on par with the 3gs or HTC Desire.

Nothing against the SF, it's a brilliant little phone and easily the winner at ~£100 PAYG, but it's no iPhone 3GS contender.

As said above, you're looking at the Desire/SGS as 3GS competition.

This is no comparison what so ever, making this jump would be the biggest mistake in phone history. The San Fran is not what it's made out to be. It's a cheap tacky phone.

That's a bit harsh. It's no Desire/iPhone etc. but it's certainly well worth a shout if you just want a cheap, decent smartphone.
