Can anyone find me a part time job that involves working on computer or electrical work since I can't find anything. Job centre wont help because I'm a teenager and they only want to give people their job seeker pay not help someone find a job, nor would Connexions since they don't deal with jobs:confused::confused:. Please don't tell me to walk into every shop and ask because they aren't interested or say the manager isn't in. I tried 20 computer shops and nobody would give me an interview, even OcUK didn't bother to answer my application so I feel useless. Why bother saying jobs on the homepage and not even answer someone application I spend hours over.

I don't want to work in most shops as I find it stressful dealing with people. I am into electrical stuff and computers but there seems no jobs are about unless you are qualified or have experience. It's just going to be a wasted summer if I don't find a job and I need money for when I go to university in a few years.

I'm not sure what you mean, the Job Centre want to give you money instead of find you a job?

How about being an Electrician's apprentice?

No, but when I went there all they seem to do is give people their job seekers money, but I asked can you help me find a part time job they said no they can't.

How can we find a job for you?
Firstly we don't even know where you live.
Secondly, stop being lazy, look at the local paper.

There are no jobs,Just live on your JSA until the government take it off you for not getting a non existant job...

.

Because they receive hundreds (may have an exaggeration) for a role and can't take time to reply back to everyone, or they may be waiting till they receive X amount of applications or waiting till a certain date to contact poeple asking for an interview. Sadly these days companies hardly ever get in touch to say sorry, unless it's been set up automatically.

My Guess he isn't on JSA, or old enough. I also reckon he is at school in 1/2 term week.

How old are you, as that can have a factor in someone employing you especially if you are still at school

Finding work can be a very frustrating and demoralising activity. If you're only looking for part time work/a summer job then I'd suggest putting your computer/electrical aspirations on hold for the time being. Apply for anything and everything. Get a bit of cash in your pocket and some experience to put on your CV. You can always keep looking for your dream job whilst you work.

I am at college doing a BTEC which is equivalent to 3 A-Levels, but I can't do an apprenticeship along with the BTEC if I wanted to get the three distinctions. I get no money no EMA or job seeker money not that I want any of it. But I am struggling to find work relating to my college course, seriously struggling. I looked at the local papers, the closest job relating to something I could do was a designer for wrapping paper..

Possibly I could try applying for engineering company's but there aren't many around here especially as I might have to sell the car.

Didnt read/see that. Don't know any high street shops these days employing school children. Even MacDonalds (classic 16y/o employee) has been immagrants only for the past couple of years in Edinburgh/Aberdeen.
On that note, anybody else noticed subway went through a stage of having "nation of the week" Where each week they solely employed immigrants from a certain nation?....Taking the logical stance I am guessing it was for communication issues with lack of english skills.

But surely there has to be loads of jobs out there that relate to computer/electrical work. Why must I put up with dumb jobs like stacking shelves or serving customers which I would find hell.

You want a career in looking at a computer screen? I was like you, at college doing probably the same BTEC.

I've gone elsewhere, screw IT.

Oh, and in this day and age a job is a job pal :) Can't be fussy at your age.

As they say, welcome to the real world.
You don't have to, but if you want something you have to work for it, if you want to work with computers the best start you're going to get is going out and doing it yourself.

Lol... You need to give us more information, what part of 'IT' do you want to go into. I applied for everything, shelf-stacking to apprentice-accounting and landed an apprenticeship in Software Development because I came off as enthusiastic in my CV/CL so this may be your problem, as in this thread you come off a whiny and immature.

+1 on this sort of lost interest tbh better as a hobby than as a job like.

Hardly any company's reply back when I was on JSA a year or so back I sent every E-Mail application id sent out and printed it off as they wanted proof and id only had a handful of replies.

Easy, he's only young :p

I knew it was bad when i was in college 9-5 spending all of that time on a computer then coming home and chilling on the computer.

Migraines, vision problems, ****e posture and the 'monitor tan'.

ICT is not attractive to me at all anymore.

Harsh but fair.

If you need money then you have to be prepared to take whatever job is on offer. There might be lots of computer/electrical work out there (I wouldn't know, it's not my field) but that doesn't mean they're going to hire someone who's still at school and has no experience.
