Do any of you regularly give to any charities?

If so, what made you choose to donate to that particular charity/charities?

I don't. It's not something I often think about. I'll throw a few coppers in a collection tin and I'll always buy a poppy but that's about it. Just curious to see how much money others donate to charity.

I donate to Wooden Spoon, the World Food Programme and Children in Need, all via work-based fundraising activities that are supported by my employer. Probably amounts to £20 or so a year.

Nothing else.

Those happy pills have got your mind doing great things!

I would like to run for charity but don't really know where to start. It's one of the best feelings in the world doing something for someone else. So much more rewarding than doing something for yourself.

Shedloads to church, some to some other Christian charities, National Trust, and we always buy a gift for the Penny Arcade charity, Child's Play, at Christmas.

We'll add some more to the list next time I get a payrise.

Definitely :)

(I'm always surprised when someone remembers something I've posted)

Probably because I'm in the same situation but am not willing to go near the things, CBT instead. I would also like to hear ideas on what people can do to raise money for charities.

i give £10 a month to charity and it goes to my employers charity of that time.

been doing it for 10 years now

I give:
£10 a month to British Red Cross
£10 a month to Great Ormond Street
£5 a month to Friends of the Earth
and whenever there is a DEC or someone with a collection tin (and the reason seems worthwhile) I will chuck some change in there. Oh and I'm a graduate student.

Anthony Nolan Trust, RAFA, Breast Cancer Campaign. I also regularly lend through Kiva (on my 7th Loan and normally have 2 on the go at a time), helping people to help themselves.

I regularly donate my old stuff to pretty much the same charity shops each time. Saleable things go to the ones that can sell it and clothes for recycling to Scope because they get £5 per bag. Old mobile phones also go there because they get money for it. Would rather than than see the likes of Mizuma scumbile make the money :)

Raising money for Chestnut Tree House (which is a childrens hospice) by running a marathon in April.
