Hey guys,

I have a YN560 speedlight and I need rechargeable batterys for it and a charger what would you recommend?

Also does any of the cheaper speedlights have TTL is it? as I was looking for a second speedlight also and that would be a bonus for when i put on the camera.

Eneloop batteries are the best from what I've heard, they aren't too expensive either.

The YN-465 appears to have TTL, as does the 467. Then again I'm hardly knowledgeable with flash so best wait for someone else's advice :p

I assume it takes AAs?

This link has a comprehensive test of rechargables: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=677074&highlight=powerex

They rate the 2700mAh Maha Powerex as the best with the 2000mAh Sanyo Eneloops second.

However since that test was carried out Sanyo have released the 2500mAh Eneloop XX, which I think might tip the balance back in their favour.

I've just purchased 4 of Eneloop XXs and a Technoline BL-700 charger which comes highly recommended. Not had a chance to try them out yet.

Thanks guys for the helpful replays.. I think I will check out the YN-465 cheers ( I dont fancy the costly canon ones just yet lol)

hmm I have heard of Eneloop, I will check out what you both said and the Technoline BL700 charger...

Cheers

I highly recommend the Eneloops too and have also just purchased 4 sets of the 2500 ones (I use a MAHA C9000 charger). NOt yet tried them but will be used in our 580EX II's.

does anyone here use the additional powerpacks for their 580ex2s? that take 8 batteries iirc. Wondering how worthwhile they are!

Tom.

I have been thinking about these too. Not cheap for a Canon one though!

edit: Just found a copy for £39.99 - "The JJC FB-1 is a high quality, low cost replacement for the Canon CP-E4 compact battery pack. It reduces the recycling time between flashes to a third of the original time as well as increasing the number of flashes three fold. The pack has a triPod screw so that it can be screwed into the triPod thread of the camera.

The battery pack is powered with eight AA alkaline, lithium or rechargeable NiMH batteries (not included). Plug the pack into the appropriate socket of the flash unit (which will need to be powerd as normal). When the indicator lamps of the flash unit and the cameras light up you can use the camera
"

Sounds OK.
