Just had an early spring clean and found these in a Tesco carrier bag under my bed. One (not photographed) is definitely my mum's so I'm assuming they're my parents but I've no idea how I landed up with them.

We lived in Malaysia when I was young so I'd place money on them all being fakes, but just wanted to check either way.

Anyway, let's get us started:

I know there's a few watch experts here so thanks in advance :).

1 Fake Rolex, not even close to looking like any genuine model
2 Fake Tag,a bit like a 2000

3 hard to tell if it's fake, is it really worth faking an Accurist ?

:)

Just a question, but being a non watch expert how can you tell they are fake?

the Rolex is nothing like any real Rolex, it says quartz on it, Rolex have made very few quartz watches, the main being the Oysterquartz which looks nothing like that, the others being a few Cellini models which were not 200m waterproof as this says it is

the engraving on the back is a big thing, the Sea Dweller is the only Rolex with an engraved back

the Tag is a bit closer but the movement would say Tag on the rotor if it had a glass back, which the 2000 never did :p

they are very, very poor fakes by any standards

Welcome to China Town, Malaysia, year 1997 :p.

It is odd though. Why make them so different? You'd think it'd be easier to just copy them like-for-like, ie the fact that no Rolex's (bar 1) have an engraved back - surely it'd be easier not to engrave the back than to do so.

Open up your Rolex it should read "Made in ****zerland"

Plus the ST6 movement in your fake Tag is chinese.

Erm the last one, have you opened it up. Possibility that it might be the best of the lot - possibly hallmarked and gold?

If you slip your finger nail between the seam and the little tab at the back it should pop open. It should then fold out and you may find hallmarks inside. There should then be a similar panel covering the mechanism which again you should be able to pop open using your fingernail.

Let us know what you find.
