listerine mouthwash.

Love the story of Listerine.

Apparently they found it useful for mouth hygiene but needed a reason for it to become marketable. Cue the birth of smelly breath, a really strong advertising campaign and they've never looked back.

This burnt when I started to use it, after a week or so it is fine though, unless you have a very dirty mouth anyway...

I like it, and it works.

No, it doesn't work.

Alcohol in mouthwash does nothing other than give the impression it's working by burning your mouth.

Is this opinion or fact? Not being an arse, I'm curious :)

This is exactly the case. My dentist confirmed it a few weeks ago, no-one actually needs mouthwash. Just don't wash the bloody toothpaste out of your mouth after brushing.

It's not clean unless it's Listerine. That stuff just burns out the bacteria, feels great and like my mouth is surgically clean afterwards.

Besides, with the volume of alcohol I consume on a weekly basis and the fact that I am a smoker, the whole oral cancer argument becomes moot.

It's a bit strange to hear conflicting opinions, because a year or so ago my dentist actually reccomended I use it.

PK!
