Career Advice

Obviously talk about something you're interested in or passionate about and that you could confidently answer any potential questions on. One of your hobbies, a holiday away, a place you like to vist etc.

If you can involve the interviewers then it might be a good idea. Give them something to pass round or have one of them volunteer for something. Rather than just have them sit there for 10 minutes while you talk at them.

Recruiter said the samething!

Just talk about something you are passionate about.
When I first showed my presentation to the wife I had got half way through it when she pointed at the clock behind me and I had talked for 30 minutes  and I had to do some extreme editing.
I once did a presentation on sharpening a pencil that lasted 1 hour so talking about something you know is easy peasy.
Remember that the real reason for the presentation is to keep it interesting, try not to say 'erm' a lot and to definitely keep it under 10 minutes (do not go over unless they start talking to you about it).

I think I'll be fine giving the presentation... The issue is coming up with something interesting to talk about. Will have a think when I get home!

I talked about skydiving, and another place I chatted about working around the world on luxury yachts, and another about when I sailed across the atlantic. Talk about things that you've done and are passionate about. :)

You could try to be clever and incorporate the presentation to the people interviewing you but that's up to you to work out and gauge. :)

Good luck - good position to be in.

Car allowance is just a salary if you don't use a company car. So you'll be getting paid more. :)

Pay cuts or stagnations aren't always the worse things to do - I took one once, and progressed a lot faster and superseded my previous salary by 20% within 2 years - it was more than worth it. You just have to plan it in your head.

However from your previous threads about money, it seems you would struggle to live with less money ;)

I don't know if it's been mentioned above but don't read from the slides.
There's nothing worse than somebody just reading exactly what's on the slides without verbally putting their own comments in.

I wont be doing a powerpoint presentation. Instead I'll be giving handing out photos (with descriptions). The presentation (or what I plan to say) itself will be scripted. Typing it at the moment.

Hand out material all ready!!

Just need to finish off my script!

Went for the interview yesterday.

Seemed like the logest day of my life. 2.5 HOURS to get there :|

Anyway, in short (I wont even lie lol) the presentation was poor. It was fine for the first few mins then all of a sudden I choked. The person conducting the interview noticed this and went on to ask question about my topic (which helped)!

As for the interview as a whole, I think it went pretty well. I think it could be a great role for me.

If I could rate the interview as a whole out of 10... Id give myself a 7 :( .

All I can do now is wait for their feedback.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Were tere many other people there?
If it takes you 2.5 hrs and you get less pay, then surely this isn't the best job for you???

Was just me and one other person (there were supposed to be two people conducting the interview).

The role itself will be a mix between being home based and/or on site with clients.
