PC MONITOR WONT TURN ON!

Nope because the PC I am using currently is crap: AMD Semron 1.8Ghz, 412MB Ram.. -.-
Btw does anyone have a ruff idea of what the factory people will say/charge?
 
Dammed if I know but if its a generic computer fixing place, well the one near me charges £48 an hour plus hardware costs if they supply them.
 
I'd also guess at a motherboard fault, but without the facilities to test the individual components it's all guess work.

I’m still wondering about what could have sparked while putting the side panel back onto a factory built PC.

Edit: I just had a quick search and a complete refurbished M3400 (sans monitor) from a reputable supplier is about £300. This could be considered as the worst case scenario.

Power cable to something may be loose tbh, perhaps was loose enough to break connection at the time which could = sparks.

Checked all connections are firmly in?

Anyway you've not said where these sparks were, did you see?
 
I'm guessing you've trapped a molex wire or somthing in the case and shorted something out. Possibility you've fried the onboard GFX.

you said you tried a graphics card exactly what card did you try to come to that conclusion.

also might help to throw a pic uup of the inside incase something more obvious sticks out to one of us that your missing (happens to the best of us)

According to what probably is the manual two beeps indicates:

  • CMOS Damaged.
  • CHOS checksum error or CMOS battery loss occurs
Which isn't particularly helpful.

I’d suggest that you try a BIOS reset.

You could try hotwiring the PSU (Google is your friend here) to check it’s still working.

spooky, i am getting the same thing.

i have mine down to the RAM, Motherboard or possibly the CPU at fault.

Everything powers on but i get NO image what so ever i cant even tell if it posts or not its a bloody pain, good luck will keep an eye on this thread :)

New case? New graphics card? Why?

Case is not a player in it working or not unless something is horribly wrong and you've tried a working card already you say.

If you cant borrow a stick of known working RAM from someone to make sure then that's what I'd start with

I guessed. I also wouldn't describe would you attempted as 'trial and error'.

What heatsink did you install? If it was something large (NH-D14), it could have been touching a coponent on the motherboard.
 
Urm I installed a Xilence Xilent Blade.. :S
And the current case is rubbish and I cant do ANYTHING it is soo small and barely fits the mtoherboard in, I also want a new graphics card because I was playing CoD4 with the intergrated GPU and only got 18 FPS.. :/
