After years away from console gaming I am back with a PS3. What games would you suggest? In my PS1 and 2 days I loved the Tony Hawks games, SSX games, GTA, Gran Turismo (got GT5 with my PS3), and the Timesplitters games (fun FPS). I also used to enjoy Wipeout and Everybodys Golf on the PSP.

So whats good on PS3? Any suggestions must be PS3 (or atleast console) exclusives as I still have a gaming PC and will buy games for that if they are available on both platforms (unless a miracle happens ans PS3 games drop to the price of PC games).

Everybody's golf (demo on PSN) - slight warning with this one. If you want to play online, it say's you need the latest patch. I'm pretty sure it downloads a new version of the game because it takes hours and the install is about 6.2gb. You will think it's not working but it is.

Red Dead redemption
Metal Gear solid 4 (I'm not 100% on this but most people are)
Little big planet (just because it costs next to nothing)
Infamous (demo on PSN)
Killzone 2 + 3 (demos on PSN)
Uncharted 1 + 2 (don't overlook these, Uncharted 2 looks great even by PC standards)
Heavy Rain watch some videos of this. It's just as good as it looks on the videos. No, in fact, it's better. GOTY for me (demo on PSN)

If you like racing games go for Motorstorm (or it's sequel). Ok it's not a driving sim like GT, but it's so much fun to play. Taking out Quad bikes with Monster Trucks never gets old. Great soundtrack as well.

Also The Darkness (it's on 360 as well, but not PC). While not a "fun" FPS like Timesplitters it can be fun to use your demon powers to kill mobsters. Buy it because it's cheap and is, IMO, one of the best examples of storytelling in any game I have ever played (particularly an FPS).

Also +1 for Uncharted 2. Beautiful game and loads of fun. They're making a movie based on it, but it seems that the director doesn't give a damn about the story, and is making it about Gangsters or something.

^^ totally agree :P

In addition to everything else, please don't overlook God of War 3... superb game :) best graphics i've ever seen (for me obviously).

Didnt realise where was a Wipeout game on PS3.

Is Wipeout HD any good? Trouble is, being a PSN game, it cant be bought cheap like other older games :(

Wipeout HD is excellent. It's all old tracks, nothing new, but they're all done very well. The graphics are sublime but most importantly they run at a smooth 60fps all the way, the netcode is pretty decent too so online is competitive.

It's really cheap anyway last i checked. Not much over a tenner on the PSN.

Wipeout HD is fantastic. They also released a retail version of the game with the expansion 'Fury'.

I picked it up for £15 brand new at Christmas 2009 so it can't be that hard to find on the cheap.

Demons Souls - If you have free time and can spare a few hours it's a great game with plenty of rewarding features, Though it can be a time sink.

Uncharted - A must for any PS3 owner and especially if you loved Tomb raider as it's the new Tomb raider imo.

Mass Effect 2 - Don't know when it's released, but fantastic game and has a feature to tell the story of the first one which isn't on the PS3.
