my friend is still unsure which he should buy as a gaming machine, and quite rightly too because there are some differences im just not sure about.

personally, im thinking the mosasaur is the better one, especially considering the price difference, but what do you guys think (im only listing the different things about them)

dreadnought: £1587.98

- CPU: Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz @ 4.00GHz
- graphics - 2 GTX 480's SLI'd (is 750W enough power?)
- Power Supply: Corsair TX 750W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply
- RAM: Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 (1600MHz) Low Latency Tri-Channel
- Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58
- Case: Antec 902 Gaming case with Nvidia Green Fans
- Optical Drive: LG DVD+/-RW SATA Drive - Black

mosasaur: £1376.78

- CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz Sandybridge @ 4.60GHz
- Graphics Card: 2x ATI Radeon HD 6950 2048MB GDDR5 Graphics Card
- Power Supply: Corsair TX 750W
- RAM: Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
- Motherboard: Asus P8P67 Pro Intel P67
- Case: Coolermaster HAF 912 Case
- Optical Drive: LG 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter

thanks for any help

buy the mosasaur.

sandybridge is faster at stock speeds, and that is overclocked even higher, 2 X 6950 wont be slow.

will the difference in RAM be a problem (thats the main thing he was complaining about with the mosasaur - 4GB of ram, not 6)

i literally have no idea how much its gonna affect things

Not for a gaming pc, 4GB is ideal, some noobs will try and convince you maybe that 2GB is enough, so watch out:D

If you call us when placing the order we can make slight amendments, I am sure changing the fan will not be a problem for us. :)

thanks. im sure he will be delighted.

to be honest i was thinking of just buying a 50p computer with a purple fan attached because he's been going on about purple fans so much

A 50p computer?

But in all seriousness, just call us when placing the order and we can put in the purple fans, that will not be an issue at all. :)

I can't guess as the price difference, I'm guessing not much, but I've always built my own and though a part of the mod team here, don't work for OCUK.

You're best to call them up on the pricing.

As for performance, I'm on 8GB as I use a lot of video editing and the like and it's really really nice. Is it worth it for *JUST* games? Right now they won't use it, but you never know in the future. I'd do it personally if it'll only cost say another 50 (which I'm guessing it would).

Call them up and ask though :)

The price will be just the additional cost of the memory, maybe slightly more but not much. If you give us a call on: 0871 200 5052 we can create a quote for you, or alternative if you want to post on the Customer Service section I can create the quote for you. :)

You lazy man, I'll have to speak to Spie about getting you working 18 hours a day :p

On a serious note, you're in great hands. 5UB has helped me several times in the customer forum, and has always sorted me out :)
