Hi guys,

I am interested in getting an imac 21.5 and see the base model has HD4670 with 256mb of ram, will this be sufficient to drive my ZR30w at 2560 x 1600?

I did have a MBP running it but it was quite laggy sometimes (probably cause of the mobile graphics)

cheers

The MBP shouldn't be laggy, all the Apple hardware can drive a 30" display with ease, providing you have a dual DVI connection or better.

The iMac can certainly do that resolution.

well the MBP is fine but when you scroll within applications ie Logic pro, or on the browsers it's not that smooth.

Are the graphics cards in the imac's the same as a full size graphics card (same as you would get in a PC)?

No, the iMac will use desktop CPUs and RAM, but the graphics are handled by mobile boards to keep the footprint small.
