Dragon Age 2 - * Official *

Yea, I'd never heard of Demon Souls either until now, and I normally know of every single new and upcoming RPG release.

Oh right I forgot, I'm not even slightly interested in console games because their RPGs are complete suckage.

This is getting tiring.

Ok, i'll spell it out. You said over the shoulder hack and slash games are hardly challenging. One of the most challenging games released in years, Demon's Souls (yes it's on console 'lolololol') is an over the shoulder hack n slash.

But this isn't a hack and slash. You clearly don't know what the definition of these genres really is.

I bet its still only 50% as challenging as DAO, 20% as challenging as Magicka, and 5% as challenging as Baldur's Gate :p

And this is why debating with you about these things is proving to be pointless. You completely close yourself off to one of the biggest gaming platforms on the market out of some foolish sense of superiority. I actually feel sorry for you having never experienced Demon's Souls, Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea, Persona, Vandal Hearts, Suikoden, Wild Arms, the list goes on and on.

Do you think you're being clever or are you just trolling?

...consoles have rpgs?

Yea exactly, like WTH? No they dont, they have lame wannabe hack n slash games that console derps think are RPGs.

NEVER heard of a single one of those games, has anyone else?

Trolling? Im the one discussing a whole load of random and completely unheard of lame console RPGs in the PC gaming section? LOL!

So I guess its no wonder that you like DA2, you seem to like every lame cookie cutter hack n slash consolised game that has some minor RPG element to it.

Fair point, but i've added more. It sold very well for a low budget game though, even sparking the development of a cross platform sequel, so it didn't really go under the radar.

It had no marketing campaign (that i'm aware of, or the wiki for that matter) and i've not really seen mentions of it anywhere. It sold quite well but it in no way registered on a radar anywhere. I vaguely remember someone on my steam list talking about it in '09 because it took such a stupid time to be released in the EU.

Now i know why you like this demo so much, pretty much that entire list is JRPG style games. Sure they might be good but they are way out of league with pc rpgs. Though myself i'm a CRPG fan :D

Aye it took FOREVER to release in the EU. Thing is, Sony rarely market their games, most people who don't own a PS3 haven't heard of something like Uncharted unless its through word of mouth either which is a really high budget game.

Thing is PS3 games are region free, so for years people imported copies from Asia, so the sales figures there are absolutely massive as everyone who was interested was importing it over the course of two years. The word of mouth, and half a dozen GOTY/RPGOTY awards were also enough to keep enough interested invested in it.

It's more because JRPGs are usually console exclusive, whereas western RPGs get multi platform releases. I'm a big fan of all RPGs and consoles offer the best of the eastern world.

And how do you know that PC RPGs are better? You haven't played them! Also, other than The Witcher, name one truely fantastic PC-only RPG that's come out in recent years.

How the heck is that an RPG, or challenging in anyway? It looks like a complete joke to me.

Ever heard of a tactical RPG? It's one of those.

That's one of the first levels. The game was criticized by many critics for being too difficult, especially towards the end.

Do some research before writing things off.

How do you know they're lame Bhavv, if you've never played them? Too busy foaming at the mouth?

Is it too difficult to understand that I simply dont like RPGs that dont compare in the slightest bit to either Baldur's Gate or morrowind?

Wheres the open explorable world and character development?

Its a combination of a turn based strategy game and a shooter, it has little to no actual RPG gameplay at all.

Lets see, my brother has an xbox, xbox 360, wii and a ps3. I have every emulator you can think of. My brother buys his rpg's and i've played them, even had a go of a few rpg's on his PSP. How do you know i haven't played them?

They are JRPGS, completely different style to what us PC players prefer.

As i said myself i prefer the days of eye of the beholder, lands of lore and ultima but those are CRPGS :D

Ultima, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Diablo 2, Sacred Gold, Elder Scrolls, Gothic 1-3, Risen, The Witcher, Deus Ex, Magicka, Torchlight, Guild Wars, DDO, Lotro to name a few of my favorite RPG games.

How do console games compare to those in any way Streetch? DA2 seriously doesnt.

BTW, did anyone here play the Exile RPG games? They were the first ones I came across when I was 7 years old and I was hooked to the genre ever since then:

That game right there is still better to me than most of these rubbish consolised RPGs that are emerging these days.

Some completely whoop games like Gothic, Magicka, Torchlight, Lotro etc.

Others like Baldur's Gate are timeless so i wouldn't say anything beats those, a few of my favourite console RPGs have delivered just as much enjoyment for me though.

I never said DA2 even compared to any game, how would i know? I've only played a 10 min demo.

You seem to think that there's this line in the sand, console gamers on one side, pc gamers on the other and no one shall cross. This isn't true, the majority enjoy games on all platforms. Just because i like Final Fantasy VII, doesn't mean i can't enjoy Baldur's Gate.

LOL, no bloody way. Why do you post in the PC games section if you clearly prefer console RPGs to PC ones?

See above, i edited my post to point out where i think you're getting confused. Some people, like me, like GOOD games. I couldn't care less what platform they're on, some are good, some are not as good. Magicka isn't a patch on Demon's Souls, but Demon's Souls isn't as good as Baldur's Gate as just one small example.

It's interesting how you've selectively ignored the bit where i said Baldur's Gate is timeless.

I ignored the bit where you stated the absolute obvious, yay?

No, heres the thing, people who like console games can usually crossover to and enjoy PC games because they are so much better. People like me who are used to and expect nothing less than the glorious master PC games could never cross over and enjoy the much lamer console games like DA2 :D

Well, except for Super smash Bro's I suppose, that game is pure epic win.
