Hard drive and the curse of the cable ties

A few years back I purchased a rig from this very company and I'm very very happy with it.

So my hard drive is now full, which is annoying, but that's Steam for you.

My main question is - Cable Ties, there really is no give at all with the internal power cable inside the case so it will mean cutting the tie cable off without damaging the exposed wires underneath - any tips?

Secondly although not as important but still relevant - should I go for the largest capacity HD I can afford to buy, or do you guys have a personal preference, of course if I can get a quiet 1TB drive I'll go for that. Looking to buy before the end of the day so I can get it asap I've got less than 2gig left which isn't nice.

Thanks for the help guys.

I would recommened buying 2 x 1TB HDD and setting them in Raid 0, I don't think you would be running out of space anytime soon and it would cost you just under £100 depending on the HDD you get, buy the OEM versions from here : ) As for your first question, sorry I don't know what to say to that : (

This. You can get 1TB HDDs for around ~£40 these days. I remember when my 120GB HDD cost me £50!!

They really are that tight, the tie clip barely moves around and the plugs are right next to it.

I will have to do it sober and in excellent lighting.

Twist cables - why not?

I would personally get an external 1TB and drop there things that you don't use normally, like iso files, docs, pics, media, etc.

But an internal HDD on raid 0 is better, more ££ though!

an external ones cost more. so a internal one is the better option. £40 for 1tb

get a samsung f3

how big is the drive you have now. i bet theres loads of stuff you could get rid of

I really wouldn't. The chance of one drive failing and taking ALL your data with it is a lot higher.
This is not an issue if you have backups of your important files.

I wouldn't recommend raid0 - why put your data at risk like that?

Just get a single 2tb hd. With hds always get the biggest you can afford, unless you have some special purpose intended.

I wouldn't recommend Raid0 either. Go for the largest single drive you can afford, the density will improve speed even if rotational speed is lower (WD 2TB Green).

250gb I believe, and of course you're right there's probably 100+gb of games that I don't play anymore, but it's annoying to reinstalling them again down the line and then you add in Steam for the last few months chewed through the space like no ones business!

I'll probably do maintanance deleting old files/instances, when I'm moving steam etc on to the bigger drive, which I'm in taking a look through now.

Still won't help unless I get the tie clip off without damaging the wires OC have seemingly made it as difficult as possible unfortunately as all of the wiring has very little give anywhere.

if there cable ties then just get a small screw driver in the clip and pop up the little clip will open then. it is a pain tho. or get a sharp knife and cut it.

it looked like that was what it should do, but damn I'm going to need to put more elbow grease on it.

Finally really - power cable and screws or does this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-335-WD come with screws/cables anyway?

Edit: I've added this to the basket http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-053-GE

and This http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-072-OC Very sexy looking ram.

ALMOST finished paying for the order (I've picked up some ram as well) As the case is going to be open again anyway, I may as well right.
