Hi Guys

Just putting together a system and went to plug it in, but the kettle lead that came with this power supply has 2 pins rather than 3. Have I been given the wrong lead?

Thanks

It's an american/european plug, you'll need an adapter. Also, check to make sure the power supply has the red switch on the back to 230V (if it has one, if not, it'll be fine).

How annoying! Guess I'll nip down to the shop and get an adaptor then.

Thanks

Normally continental / US spec hardware comes with the adaptor when sold into the UK . That's a bit cheap of them and probably against some kind of regulation, as it encourages people to do the 'two into three' trick :p.

Maybe they just forgot to put an adaptor in the box!

Pretty annoying that it doesn't come with a UK compatible plug though.

Does it fit in the socket? Just run it without the earth pin. Switch the power off, stick something plastic into the earth pin, stick the two-pronged plug into the wall socket. I used to run loads of stuff like this when I moved back from Germany and never bothered re-wiring everything.

Pffft plugs... strip the plug off and bung the wires in the socket, don't worry about earthing it, just wear some makeshift tinfoil gloves, you'll be fine.

Oh yea, don't forget to lick the cables as well.

I think I'll go get a new lead rather than doing this...

We went through a run of the kids at work flicking those to 110v so the computers made a nice popping noise when plugged in.

hes crazy most people hve there pc earthed when they fit components so they can touch the case and discharge static , there is no way i would run my pc without the psu beeing earthed
