Help me find a good keyboard

I'd like a new keyboard, I don't know much about them, always bought any random cheap logitech one.
I was wondering if backlit was a good option. As i am always trying to find whre's what at night time
I like the small LCD display screen on logitechs.G something I had a look at steelseries shift (cata edition)and razor blackwidow (mechanical? how is it different to a normal keyboard?)

I think I would pay for around 50-60 quid.

What can I get for this price?

Mechanical keyboards use individual mechanical switches for each key, whereas rubber membrane keyboards use a large rubber sheet. Mechanical switches have a higher life span as they're rated for upto 50 million key strokes and they give a better typing experience than any rubber membrane keyboard will ever provide.

Recommendations... It's up to what your main use of the keyboard will be. If you're going to be doing a lot of gaming where you'll be pressing multiple keys you want a keyboard that has NKRO. If it's mainly for word processing, NKRO isn't as important and you can get a board with between 2 and 6 key roll over. You'll be limited to membrane keyboards in that price range, unless you go for a second hand mechanical or save a little extra and splurge on something like the basic Razer Black Widow mechanical or maybe a Cherry G80-3000.
 
Got my G110 recently. Impressed so far. It's backlit and in right price range (edit: if you get it on "this week only").
 
ok well I do not type a lot of text, so maybe mechanical is not that important. I do quite a lot of gaming with it. G110 looks good,
What about getting something like the G13 gameboard?

If you type a lot, mechanical is important. And using a clicky type switch is always recommended over linear or tactile switches. As for the G110. I would get the Razer Black Widow over the G110. It might not be backlit or have the hubs the logitech and Black Widow Ultimate have, but for around the same price of the G110 you get clicky mechanical switches. The only downside is lack of NKRO but they are "gaming optimised" so multiple key presses shouldn't be a problem.

That, especially with keyboards. Get something that allows multiple key presses and you like the look of and you're set. Pretty much everything else is just marketing.
 
yes, does anybody really use the lcd on the keyboard? I don't think.

are Steelseries any good they have fine-tuned the force for each key or something like that.

The Steelseries 7G and 6Gv2 are mechanical switch keyboards. The Steelseries Shift is a rubber membrane keyboard. Apparently the rubber membrane is an "improved" type of superior quality to traditional rubber membranes. However, it still won't have the longevity of the mechanical switch models they do and the key feel and actuation will degrade a lot faster over time.
 
omg you know quite a lot about that. very impressive. Now I think I know what's best for what, I think the g110 is the best choice for me
