Tips for staying on the wagon

I get hangovers pretty bad now, im 35, but when i was 18-26. I could booze for 3 days straight and feel fine. Nowadays, one decent night kills me now, i end up spending the best part of the next day in bed, i suppose sitting up to all hours posting on here and watching films doesnt help either.

I started boozing today at 6.30 pm, straight to the pub after work, (in ireland we call it a work booter). You go straight to the pub in work clothes, in my case white painters trousers. Stay for a few hours, go home get washed up and straight back to the pub. More of an excuse to get bladdered tonight, two of my best friends came back from afghanistan today safe and well.

Possibly the best drunken saying ive ever heard.

“'You are drunk Sir Winston, you are disgustingly drunk. 'Yes, Mrs. Braddock, I am drunk. But you, Mrs. Braddock are ugly, and disgustingly fat. But, tomorrow morning, I, Winston Churchill will be sober.”

Love that one.

I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.

Frank Sinatra, apparently.

I feel sorry for people who seemingly can't have fun and feel good without alcohol and getting drunk.

Been on the wagon for a day now...Can't sleep :(

No big deal, just keep drinking water, fruit juice. Your body will adjust to the lack of booze. It should be much of a problem unless you're a regular alchi. Stop being a wimp and use a little willpower.

I know the above is a quote but;

How messed up and long a problem do you need before you forget that the reason you feel better after a drink is more than likely you feeding an addiction and stopping the crave.

You can also read it the other way, people who drink (heavily) tend to feel worse in the mornings and better as the day goes on/hangover wears off - that might be without a drink during that day.

As for how to not drink - it's just a bit of self-restraint, while nights out without drinking can be sometimes more of a tester than when you are drinking it's far from impossible to do.
