Over the ear, good bass, no noise leaking for under £200 headphones. Any ideas?

No, I've not tried the Zero. I mostly go for try before you buy on headphone amps, as I've tried very expensive ones that don't offer a massive improvement.

For example, my £100 Mackie mixer is nearly on par with a musical fidelity X-Can V3 for my HD600s or DR770 pros. Both of them are a nice improvement over my AV receiver's headphone out, my CMOY or E5. Both of them don't help the NS1000s in passive mode much at all though, where the CMOY and FiiO do the best job.

The NS1000s behave very strangely when it comes to amplification, compared to all other headphones I've tried with different amps.

Sennheiser are the best you get. dj's use them so your not going to get better really. ive got a cheap £60 and there great. but for 200 you will get a sick pair.

a few of my mates have paid £170+ as they dj and you cant hear nothing else. they suck to your ear lol

Oh dear indeed... If you're going to throw in your 2c, please read through the post first! I don't think "buy X bcuz cool DJ's use them" is quite going to cut the mustard. :rolleyes:

The guy has a point, many "cool" DJs do use the HD25.

They isolate well, are built like tanks and are easily driven by DAPs.

That would be only slightly more acceptable, at least you mentioned a model number! I can say for certain that Sennheisers are not all amazing.

I can say for certain they're all over-expensive in the UK.

Yeah I agree. Sennheiser are a bit like Sony in that they have products to cater for the full spectrum of consumers. From the cheapo earbuds right up to the reference quality HD800.

The HD25 do not have the typical Sennheiser house sound though.

I read on this forum and others that the NS1000's have build issues, was this just a bad batch or something i should be aware off before buying?

Bascially, don't buy them from play.com or the rainforest company, get them from SuperFi instead.

Play appears to be the only company with the issues right now. One thing that does concern me is that it's likely that other companies will have had some from the bad batch and may start showing up soon. Saying that one would hope Superfi have had the decency and sense to return bad batches to Goldring.
