Hi all

im looking at getting some new front left/right and centre speakers for my 5.1 setup! currently just running a cheap package on the fronts with kef concertos on the rear.

looking at spending up to around £500 on the front 3 to go with my Onkyo 507 amp.

just interested in what you guys all have to give me some ideas :)

Can't help massively since I'm only running a 2 speakers set-up at present. Got a pair of Kef Q1s that I previously used with my hi-fi set-up.

You can easily pick a 2nd hand pair of them plus the Q9C for about £200 or less nowadays.

It's worth having a look on the avforums if you are willing to go 2nd hand.

i do keep an eye on avforums but tend to find they are swamped with wanted threads lol

i have been watching the Q9c on the bay recently but i just cant decide what 3 i want lol

Someone is selling a pair of Quads plus a Quad centre on avforums for £440. Only problem is a slight crack at the corner for one of them but from the normal pictures you can't see it.

ill have to have alook at that. also just seen someone with a full thx ultra setup for a £1000 with free amp! tempting lol

i was always told for best results and tone match you should have all the same make and model range for the fronts. you obviously find your spot on which is interesting :)

Kef IQ5SE's are reduced to clear/discontinued, £299 per pair. Currently have Kef Cresta 10's in my bedroom. Rang around and got myself 2 pairs reserved. One is the display pair which has some vynil peeling so are £50 less. £800 worth of speakers for £550 :)

I have QA 2020 fronts and QA 2000C centre. :)
I'd go for something like those along with a BK Gemini II subwooofer. You'd get a lot of bang for your buck and you could pick the lot up brand new for under £500.

I have a very similar setup. QA 2000C centre with the QA 1050i Fronts (I use the QA 2010 as the rears)

It just so happens I have the BK Gemini II. ;)

An Onkyo 507 like the OP so I think the QA's and Gemini would do nicely. I'm sure there are better speakers around, especially if he were to go second hand but I'm happy with my set up for the money. :)

If you can find them, the kef iq range is a steal as they have been replaced with a new range and shops will be clearing out. Otherwise QA's will go down a treat. Wharfedale's 9/10 range is also good bang for buck. However keep your eye's peeled for 2nd hand deals if you are willing, some are daylight robbery. :)

I am using Mission m34i fronts/m31i rears, have not regretted them one bit love them to bits - if you have the room :)

KEF IQ3's as front left and right and a KEF XQ50c as the centre. Cost £350 for the centre and £174 for the fronts. The centre is truly stunning to look at.
