GTX480 or GTX560Ti

Also, why don't reviewers have problems with the ATI drivers? A: because they know what they are doing

So are you really trying to say every review out there has not had an issue with ATI drivers? I'm pretty sure even linustechtips had a prob with one of the ATI drivers in a recent review. It happens with nvidia drivers too, just luck of the draw.

So is the bad ATI drivers myth justified then?

I think Nvidia are leading the market by quite a bit at the moment and want to take advantage of it.
lol! That's why gibbo's been trying to off load hundreds of unsold Nvidia 480's at less than half of the original price 9 months after release!!!

About sums it up.

as was said above, have you not considered a 6950? Fast as it is, it will unlock to a 6970, giving it better than 480 speeds, as well as overclocking by a large degree. It runs much cooler and uses less power than the 480, as well as having 2gb of RAM. You can get one for £2 cheaper than the cheapest 560 atm on ocUK!

Have to agree

6950@ £197 2gb ram flashable and overclockable

No brainer...The extra heat and power of the 480 are not worth the lack of performance gain ones sees once one has tweaked , flashed and clocked the 6950

I flashed mine back at Xmas time installed the drivers clocked it and forgot about it.

People moan about the drivers cause they are noobs and have no arguements

what a load of rubbish, it is well known the issues ati have had and are having with their drivers in certain configurations and they are known for it. I'm not saying nvidia don't have their moments either lol. some people like nvidia and some like amd ati, and that's fair enough.

Me personally I go for what performs best for me and the games I play. Last generation I changed to an amd ati card, and to be perfectly frank it has been a pain in the ars* for me, does that mean I am a noob then?

The op prefers nvidia and that's fair enough

Want to stay away from AMD if I can!

480, clock it and nothing can touch it for same price, as said 820 core and you're basically at 580 performance, no 6970 can touch that, as long as you have decent case with good airflow, temps and noise is not an issue. Sticking with Nvidia myself for the foreseeable future, drivers are class apart.

GTX570s keep going down and down in price - I'd get one over a 560 or 480

cheapest I've seen so far is about 240 new

mine @ 1.0V runs at 835 core, and 4200 on the memory

Bought my 480 in Jan, and love it.

CUDA helps with all my aps, and Physx is cool (but not necessary) in the games it supports. It isn't super noisy for me either., and overclocks to about 810MHZ despite my lack of casefans.

Games run lovely and I've not had any issues with the drivers at all.

I came from ATI, and do admit I do prefer the NV driver interface, but I have owned more ATI cards and wouldn't hesitate to buy them again if the apps I use were accelerated by then (such as Premiere)

That generally is what happens with EOL products
Uhmmm, he bought a EOL job lot from Asus....
I know it's eol, why was it replaced seven months later with the 580?
The 580 is the card that the 480 should have been but had to have parts disabled because of bad design with power draws and heat.
I am not saying that the 480 is not a good card, it is but it has been a failure for Nvidia and it's partners. Remember stockists had to buy something like 8 lesser Nvidia cards to get 1 480:eek:. I imagine that by the bucket loads of 5870's sold you won't be able to show me hundreds of 5870's going for £120-£140, they are eol too.

Exactly

480 is dead tech and will come down in price even further

480 is a noobs choice coming to late to the table

Couldn't agree with you more, easyrider.

E: Off-topic slightly, but how is your personal experience with your 6950/70? And what speeds are you at on it?
I'm putting an order in for one myself in the next few days...

I unlocked the shaders and run at stock 6970 speeds with 1.1v instead of 1.175v. I can get 1Ghz on the core with my 6950>70:D. Pretty boring video, but you can skip to the end to check for stability.

Yeah 480 is a cracking card at current price, I mean at 820 core you got yourself 580 performance, something no overclocked single AMD GPU can do. Smart money goes on a 480 for a truly epic gaming experience at an amazing price, roll on BF3.

Dead tech? surely that includes the 6850's you're debating downgrading to as well then you numpty.

My definition of dead tech is when tech fails to process modern taskes any longer. A 480 even though "dead tech" will surpass a 6970 "new tech?" with ease and with little effort and be more than fast enough this year and probably next year to power most things at full settings.
