So my left click on my mouse is getting ever worse so im on the lookout for a new one. I dont have a budget really, but id like to keep it under £100 but can go over, willing to spend enough to get a decent mouse :)

I've narrowed it down to two very different mice.

Either Raza Naga Elite http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-059-RA&groupid=702&catid=23&subcat=1257

or Saitek Cybord R.A.T http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-037-SK&groupid=702&catid=23&subcat=1257

Basically, the reason i was looking at the Razer is i play wow. I had stopped in january when i got my new pc, but I am now playing again. I find when playing wow that the fingers on my left hand start to hurt / ache after awhile when using the keyboard. I have a fair few keybinds so stretching my fingers a bit. It doesnt happen in any other games just wow, hence i was looking at a mouse with a lot of buttons i dont need to use the keyboard as much.

Im also looking at the Wireless R.A.T mouse because i like the look of it, has lots of features etc etc but doesnt have as many buttons for the above reason.

Can anyone offer me any advice / experience on how each of these mice fair in WoW and other fps / rts games.

If anyone has any other suggestions feel free, however it must be wireless (I've been using wireless mice for gaming for 10+ years and have ZERO issues with 'lag')

is the naga not right handed? cant gather how you would be using your left hand with the mouse? or you referring to a keyboard :p? and that R.A.T looks like Terminators gaming mouse ;)

Yeh its on my keyboard, my left hand starts to ache. Il update my post to reflect that :p

Its only wow that does it and even after having a 3 month break from wow, still the same. I think its because im too used to spamming so many buttons (play enhancement shaman as main :p)

I have the R.A.T 7 and am loving the customization possibilities the looks and the second wheel :D

i've never played WoW so i wouldnt know :D however i now see why you have considered the naga, as your left hand will be free to do what you like, well in some areas yes, but then walking and jumping etc etc. I've played computer games for years and i've never had problems with my hands, and with typing huge essays for college/university, i never find myself with handache, just headaches and arseache :p oh and i use a G500 and a G11 keyboard :D but i never use the 18 individually programmable keys on the left, never had the chance to get a use for them, would be too complex on css or cod4, unless i made a macro, which would get me banned from most servers :p

I have quite a few keybindings in wow such as:

(when its SF that means Shift + F)

Q E R T C X W A S D G Z SQ SE SR ST SF SG SV SC SX

as well as the number keys. My hands hurt when raiding normally, due to pressing such a wide range of button combo's. The naga would allow me to bind a lot of the harder to reach or ones that i stretch my hand more to the mouse. I can also combine them as well.

I dont want to be totally free of the keyboard, just to reduce the amount of strain on my left hand.

Ah i understand now, the only MMO game i play is guildwars, however holding out until GW2 is released sometime this year hopefully, however no solid release date has been confirmed i dont think, as they stated it would be released "when its finished".

I used to play runescape, so no binds needed, however scrapped it because i now use my time to complete college work and university work.

I currently have the R.A.T.3. Very smooth mouse, really is very responsive, you can do a lot of movement without moving the mouse a great deal, thats the feedback i seem to get from it.

I used to swear by anything razer, had a lot of their products from the lachesis, death adder, down to a G3.

I have now changed my mind, the Saitek R.A.T. series is really very good, and i will, when needed stick with a R.A.T.

Sorry to those that own the R.A.T mouse, but how can you bear to look at your desk with that ugly thing on it :o?

if you go for the RAT, take the 7 and not the 9.. I already had one battery fail and they do not sell them separately. So if the other one fails I have an expensive paper weight.

Other than that I love teh RAT!

Got a friend with one of those Naga mouses and he loves it. He does a lot of PvP in WoW and has to use a lot of macros (well doesn't have to, but he says it makes him seem cool! haha).. but yeah, he binds a lot of the macros to the mouse and he says he is able to do a lot more.. :)

The Naga is simply amazing for wow, and a brilliant mouse in general. On my Mage I had about 40+ keybinds, including a fair few focus binds as well. On my Roccat Kone I had every single mouse key bound, all the conveniant keys on my G11 bound, and also 12 of the G11 macro keys.
By switching to the Naga, I was able to shift about 18 spammable abilities to the Naga which makes life a lot easier. For pvp it is simply amazing.

I don't play wow anymore, but I still use the Naga in all my games. The buttons come in very handy in RTS games aswell.

Got the R.A.T 5 which i think is the sweetspot between features/price.

Think it has pretty much all the features of the R.A.T 9 besides being wired and not having adjustable thumb rests.

My main games are FPS for which the RAT shines - accurate, smooth and the red button (this slows down the sensitivity whilst button is held, good for accurate long range shots etc).

Best mouse ive owned and i personally love the way it looks.

I have the R.A.T.7

Would say it is definitely worth it over the R.A.T. 5, not sure I'd go to 9 for wireless though.

For FPS' the R.A.T. 7 is lovely, absolutely love the customisability and I'd say it took me less time to get used to then other mice. I do love the thumb scroll, and it's completely changed the way I play CoD.

Honestly though, it's not going to stop your left hand aching. There simply aren't enough buttons to cover all the things you have in WoW. The best bet you'd have is if you had a particular sequence of things you always did you could program them into the thumb wheel and just flick through them in seconds.

But yeah for WoW the Naga will definitely be better... however much I love my R.A.T, it's just not designed for WoW

Also, I'd take a look at the gamepads out there - like the Logitech G13 or Belkin N52 (not the overpriced Razer - which is the same, with Razer written on it for £15 more).

I use the G13, and you have 22 buttons under your finger tips, then a 4-way joystick and two buttons, all of which can be controlled by the thumb. Plus, it's very comfortable due to the shape - you lay your hand/wrist on it, rather than crane in some random position with a keyboard.

As far as mice go, another contender would be the G700 (loads of buttons) but they might not be how you'd want it laid out.

Out of the two you've picked, I'd say the Naga, as the R.A.T 9 isn't going to give enough buttons to really assign keystrokes/macros to.

Sorry to those that own the R.A.T mouse, but how can you bear to look at your desk with that ugly thing on it :o?

Me personally i think the design of the RAT is awesome, i like it because it is different, i wouldnt say ugly, cutting edge maybe ??

TBH my hand covers my RAT most of the time when playing, so you cant look at it anyway, its so smooth when playing, it sort of feels connected to you LOL, and because of the smoothness of the RAT i like it even more.

Anymore input?
Naga wins hands down if you are a WOW player.
The Naga has its own software which is perfectly compatible with WOW.
You can customise all the buttons in game, without ever having to go to the keybinding options, in game.
Take a look at swiftys review

One other thing, don't go for the elite. Go for the regular, it has 2 extra buttons mounted to the side of the LMB, it's corded but it's extra long and saves a ton on batteries. Last but not least, it's a good £50 to £60 cheaper than the elite.

Get the Naga i have the normal version and for WOW it's amazing esp when your playing at 2.7k+ arenas the extra 12 buttons help a lot, My mage in my team also uses it and he has the same opinion that it is amazing, Not to mention it's very good for FPS and other games being able to quick select other weapons is very cool.

I never used the RAT but as far as mice go i don't see anyone would by anything other then the Naga it's a master of all trades.
