5.1 headset for 360

Yep. Another alternative would be an Astro MixAmp. They're a bit pricier, but better build quality imo. :)

You can use which ever stereo headphones you want with them. You could use your Sony headphones for now and upgrade to whatever you want in the future.

Good to know.

Thanks for your help.

I have an Astro mixamp with a PC350 headset, great bit of kit. Only way to make it better would be multiple inputs to switch between consoles and PC but it's only a cable swap anyway.

I definitely get the 5.1 feeling although I've never had a 5.1 speaker system to sample so to me it's always going to be awesome. Some games are better than others though. GT5 was disappointing to me but Halo Reach was nicely done.

The amp is also great for music. I'm currently sat here listening to music with the 5.1 emulation turned off via optical from my Xonar D2X, love it.

The main advantage of the Astro is that is still can function as a headset with your own headset (assuming it has 1/8" jacks for mic and sound) and you can balance the volume between game and voice and the unit is very nicely built and packaged too.

I bought a toslink switch for about a fiver from some giant online river shop for mine. Does the job great. :)

im sorry but ive had the tb x41 for nearly a year and they are amazing on the cod games you can hear footsteps from 10m away not really much noise leaks they are just so good

Anyone got any idea what the DPX21 is like or the AX720?

Or which headset would be best to pear with the Turtle Beach DSS and still be able to do chat on xbox and ps3?

Microsoft & Madcatz are apparently partnering on a new Tritton/MS line of wireless Stereo & Dolby 5.1 headsets. End of the year at the earliest before they hit retail though.

Interesting all of this.

I am using a pair of X11's and I feel that something isn't right with them - though they are better than straight sound coming from my tv speakers. Playing BFBC2 I know there are enemies around me but the directionality seems a bit messed up.

Sooo...thinking of going for the Astro mixamp and I am in the market for a decent - though not horrendously expensive - headset for around £100. Looked at the PC350's and the Sharkoon's. Any other suggestions or will I be fine with either of these sets?

just get the mixamp/headset bundle

I have a Yamaha amp with Dolby this and that, with optical input from my Xbox. Would I still need a processor to get surround sound in normal headphones? (Sorry if this is a dumb question - it's Sunday morning!)

My DPX21 arrived today. So far so good, its much nicer then crappy TV speakers. I was worried about build quality but they seem to be OK. If I take care of them I think they will be OK. Surround sound in bfbc2 is great. Can actually tell the direction things are happening.
