Your political compass

Did you not previously advocate 'education' camps for those who refused to embrace the ideals of your society?

Education camps? Where did you pull that ***** from? I 'advocated'? education, but then almost everybody does. Just not the kind of spirit killing education you get as a child that teaches you barely anything of any real value.

Here we go again, bringing age into it

How about the fact that you cling to right wing authoritarian parties and politics as the only way to bring about change and fulfill your own liberal beliefs? Sounds pretty skewed to me...

What right wing authoritarian parties do you refer to?

You're age is entirely relevant to your experience in recognising whether my world view is skewed in any particular direction.

Also Since I have been eligible to vote I have voted Conservative, Labour, Liberal, Green party and UKIP. So how you can draw a specific world view from that is something I would like to hear?

I may have missed the thread but what is education of real value - if you can describe it in a short fashion? If not then could you point me in the direction of the thread?

Economic Left/Right: -3.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.44
Is mine, much the same as before I think although there may have been some minor movement in the numbers. For a lot of the questions I still find myself wanting to answer "it depends" as rarely are situations completely black and white.

Lets see, of those, as they currently stand... Conservative, Labour, Liberal and UKIP.

Attempt 1:

Economic Left/Right: -0.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.18

Attempt 2:
Economic Left/Right: 0.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.62

I've always thought I was more to the right. Perhaps I just like to argue about everything

Well, you shouldn't take this as an actual representation of what your views are. For one, the calcualtion system will not be realistic, not enough questions were asked and many of the questions were far too vague.

Education that is of real value would be education that teaches you skills that would come in useful in your life, and can be considered interesting. Not just how to be a good worker who doesn't question anything.

Take Physics for example, it is a brilliantly far reaching and awe inspiring subject, but the way it's taught means that you don't learn anything interesting, or for that matter much of anything that you're ever going to use again at any point in your life. Most people go out of the class hating it and are put off it forever.

I could go on for hours, however i don't think this thread is quite the place to be discussing deschooling... ;)

One of the political threads where you were outlining how you would deal with people who disagreed with your socialist utopia. You suggested "Re-educating" them. Coming from the left that usually means forced labour in some Gulag. :D

The worrying thing being i think you might actually believe that :D

You need to finish your own schooling really before you make sweeping judgements about the entire educational system.

Still we could always indoctrinate State sponsored ideology and revisionism in Re-education camps........

Well we could always just talk to my mother about what she thinks the education system is worth after either twenty or thirty years spent working in it. Or any number of her workmates. Or a large number of my own 'teachers'. Or every lecturer i've had the opportunity to talk to.

Your idea, not mine. Who's the authoritarian one again? :p

Oh right, was thinking perhaps it was referring to whether somebody is born gay or chooses to be gay. Oh well.

Edit - I'm a square away from being in the crosshairs.
