wonder if anyone has come across this or infact done it with this particular set up AMD Phenom II X2 Dual Core 560 3.30GHz Black Edition using a Asus M4A78LT-M 760G motherboard?

please any info will be usefull

many thanks

you mean unlocking?

if so i have unlocked my phenom iix2 545 to a x4 b45 stable for around 4+ months now and i have had 2 boards since, one was a asus m4a785td-v evo and my currrent one is a asus crosshair formula 3, i can say is if your gonna do it makes sure you test its stability with like prime 95 for 24 hours

yes unlocking do not want to overclock the processor just unlock it. not purchased as of yet was just wondering what the success rate is. also what is prime 95 ?

Success entirely depends on the batch your CPU came from. Complete pot luck tbh, no way of determining success rates accurately either.

The only problem that cones to mind is the motherboard is designed for low power CPUs and only has a 4+1 power phase which probably won't handle unlocking which increases power output from 80W to over 100W IIRC.

plenty of 125w cpu's supported, a 140w is listed too.

Agh yes, thanks Stulid, it is 125W not 95W!

That last bit of my post can be ignored then. :D

whats is strange is that the specs of the board say up to 125w, yet a 965BE 140w is supported. not something I would want to try out.

its a case of trial and error, core 0,1,2 might work and 3 might fail, or core 0,1,3 might and 2 fail, or you might get all working, or you might be really unlucky and have 2 dead cores completly. i can get my 555 running on 3 cores only, the last core is dead, it will post into windows but thats it, any benchmarks or testing fails, and prime95 cant even start workers on it, so i run it as a tri-core @ 3.9GHz which is more than enough.
when i asked what the chances were of getting a good unlocker, the general comment were, there are not any, its completly pot luck, you might buy a dual core that unlocks to a 4.5GHz quad core, or you might get one that will not unlock at all.
