I'm a bit surprised if I'm honest

I bought a MSI 570 - went for 570 for the new chamber cooling etc - but didn't actually know what it looked like

wasn't until I read another forum that said theirs had a 480 cooler on it - that I'd check ....

and sure enough it has heat pipes out the top .... so thats not a 570 reference coooler right ?

:( temps are ok - gets to 85C or so with standard fan profiile

bit annoyed to be honest

perhaps its heatpipes to improve ref 570 cooler ? (wishful thinking)

perhaps as OC version they used 480 cooler for better cooling - but would have been nice to have been pre-warned ... doesn't look like this in their pics

also I thought even 480 cooler was less efficient than the 570 reference one ?

if you're not happy with what you have got, and that is clearly not what was in the picture, then i think you are within your rights to RMA it.

MSI site does say pics are for referne purposes only and can differ

just annoyed with not being informed if that makes sense

and I wasn't savvy enough (not owned a 4XX or 5XX series before) to know when I installed it - that it wasn't anything other than what I was expecting

DSR time limit:

"The time limits for cancellation are as follows.

For goods:

Provided you give your consumer the required written information no later than the time the goods are delivered, their cancellation rights end seven working days after the day on which they received the goods".

Get counting those days!

plus there is nothing wrong with it as such - just not quite what I was expecting

if I'm honest temps seem fine - just seems an odd design choice - thats if it is a 480 cooler - it may just "look like one " ?

56C after 5 mins of Kombuster

yup end of 2nd week - but thanks for info

jus trealised the give away is the "black felt" strip you can see on the rear of my card .... you see the same on the 480s

still query in my mind "why"- memory is quite overclocked - anything differento n the 480 cooler wise than the 570 regarding the memory ?

or is it just on cost ?

rather annoying

This might explain why the MSI GTX570 OC is so cheap.
I can understand why you are annoyed though, unless there is a good reason for it (like better memory cooling or something).
I'd ask if it runs louder than the reference 570 cooler, but I guess you don't really have any frame of reference.

its quiet at idle - I have to admit

under full tilt - theres a lot of fan air noise - but I've nothing to reference it against

standard "bios fan profile" doesn't seem to spin the fans up that much but the card gets quite hot, as I said in Heaven up to about 85C or so - which I think is quite hot for a 570

you just expect "worst case" on any version of a set card to get the reference cooler ... not reference cooler from the previous gen !
