****The Nintendo 3DS Thread****

Think we'll be getting one of these for sure. We have one of the original DS models (the special edition MarioKart red version) and it's served us brilliantly - it has traveled thousands of miles all over the world (every trip we've been on since we got it...) and even survived being mauled by the dog (it has teeth marks all over :D ) and all it has to show for its efforts is 2 dead pixels on the top screen. I thought the battery was on its way out recently as it wouldn't hold a charge for long......but now it's back to normal.

I think it's time to put it out to pasture.

and you need a reason? :p

This may not be very interesting, but Engadget have pictures up of the Japanese retail version that was just released.

Sorely tempted by one of these, even though I'm notorious for not really being into games :P

Had a play with one in store on saturday, and im glad i didnt pre-order without trying it. The 3D doesnt work well for me, only if i looked directly at the screen was it 3D, any deviation i saw either 2D or just ghost image of what im looking at. Im a bit dissapointed TBH, but not everyone can see 3D well so i expect others may not have an issue, perhaps when some of the more intresting games come out, and if 3D isnt forced I'll prob pick one up.

HMV are doing this for £209 with Rayman 3D, I've already contacted my pre-order place to see if they can pricematch, I hate cancelling pre-orders as I want it on release :D.

So far IWOOT are still honouring my pre-order for 160 odd quid. Not sure if I should cancel it tbh based on all the initial reactions in Japan :p

They're bad?

Sorry I didnt mean to say initial reactions in Japan ONLY, I shouldve said initial reactions generally (full stop).

I dont think they say they're bad but I think the gist of what Im getting (and of what most people who have played on one in this thread) is that its not as exciting as first perceived.

I am truly in 2 minds about this at the moment. But the only thing keeping me from cancelling it is the possibility of playing Zelda and Pilot Wings at a similar (or a bit worse) graphics level than the GC.

But then the other side of me kicks in and says, whats different if you we're to dig out your N64 and play these on a bigger screen instead of squinting?

Most would say the 3D feature. But then most people who have tried the 3DS claim the 3D feature is not "all that".

Which brings us back to the status quo...

Have all the GAME shops got them on display yet? I will pop one lunchtime to have a look if possible.

There are a lot of problems with the 3d if your eyes are too close together.

Are there any launch game reviews? Tempted to get pokemon black, monkeyball and layman (never played 2 before).

Havent seen any reviews yet K, but will keep an eye out and post here when I come across em.

Oh and thats another thing, I want to try a Pokemon game and saw Pokemon White/Black coming out soon, but I wanted to ask you lot...

Do you think its worth trying out some of the older pokemon games? If so, which would should I go back to cause I think they go all the way back to the original Gameboy?
