That's ****ing disgraceful. The guy goes out of his way to help, 14 year olds have a lot of mind these days she was not forced to go with him.

Sounds like those parents need a slap.

i remember when i was around 11 years old in woolworths with 2 other friends and the manager claimed we had stole something , took us all into his upstairs office where no one else was and searched our pockets.

we were all pretty much naive and just went along with it not knowing if this is allowed etc.

he wasnt a pedo and didnt try to feel us up but its a situation u could never imagine happening anymore because of the fear the goverment and news put into everyone.

no doubt the world is a much safer place than in the laste 80's/early 90's but for some reason we are made to feel like everyone near kids is a potential pedo , anyone in a hoody is going to stab you and steal your wallet etc.

it almost feels like the state is trying to control everyone with fear

I can believe that this has happened somewhere if not in the OPs story.

About 2 years ago I thought I was going to be screamed at.
I was in Hanley Shopping Centre and a little boy walked past me but thought he may be following his mother.
About 15 seconds later I was outside Next when 2 women started shouting a boys name so I paused, turned round and said 'Is he about that big with a red jacket?' and the older women started shouting 'WTF has it got to do with you?' and I was waiting for some paedo comment.
The other women said 'he has got a red jacket, where is he?' and I said 'About 30 seconds that way'.
I then turned to the other woman and said 'Say thank you or **** ***'.

I don't know how many of you saw an Esther Rantzen program a few years ago but it shows what a state we've got in.
She setup a young child in a Shopping Centre crying for their Mum and at least 1000 people walked past until somebody helped.
She publically apologised for her part in creating the paedo panic we see now through her programs decades ago to do with Childline.

There is no requirement for anyone working in an SG/DS role to have a first aid qualification, in fact, that only comes in when you go as far as CP roles.. which are few and far between..

It is best practice, for this very reason, that an SG/DS will never be alone in a room with a member of the general public, as it allows too much for he said/she said arguments. Always have a witness at all times. In the situation described, the store manager should have been notified immediately prior to any first-aid being given, and a witness present throughout the whole procedure.

Always makes me weary when I see a small child that I think is lost, to approach them and actually ask if they need help or have lost their parents. I am usually overly cautious to see if I can see their parents nearby before I approach to ask if they need some help.

wat? why the hell would she tell you to mind your own business if she just lost her kid and you tell her you might have seen him?

To the op, that is ******* disgusting, I personally would get in touch with the Police and tell them what you know, I feel really sorry for that guard, but thing's like this happen more and more each day

I ****ing hate Rantzen, it is because of that stupid cow that all men are seen as paedos now more or less.

This is the world we live in and because of Childline -
Man : child = paedo.

In another thread about kiddies weeing themselves it used to be OK to change them (and still is in some areas of the country) but in my hometown because parents found out a male teacher changed their 5 year old the rules have been changed.
Teachers now have to ring relatives to come and deal with it.

I was a Support Officer to around 100 x 14 to 16 year old girls and I am glad I got out of it.
The incident that made me realise I was one step away from a paedo remark was when a teacher from another school watched me put a pretend bacteria cream on a students hands then we then put under a neon light display.
I got the student to wipe the back of my hand and touch me on the forehead so you could see how bacteria is easily passed on.
This woman teacher accused me of inappropriate touching but realised what I was doing was in total innocence.
As soon as another job came up working with adults I moved rapidly.

You should doubt it, given the evidence. The world is not a much safer place than it was ~20 years ago.

it almost feels like the state is trying to control everyone with fear
It isn't just the state doing so, but promoting fear for the purposes of control is a large part of the motivation.

I'd walk past. Unless I judged that a child's life was in immediate danger, I'd ignore their suffering or at most find a woman to push the problem onto. It's far too risky for a man to get involved, due to the irrational prejudices that prevail in this country at this time.

Of course, I realise that this increases the risk to children. Maybe that's what the bigots who've made society that way want. Maybe they're just idiots. It doesn't matter. More children will suffer more because of it, but there's nothing I can do to stop that.
