Hi chaps...

People keep advising I play DA but should I play the first one or just jump into the second one? Is the story a follow-on do you know?

I can only go off the demo of DA2 but I prefer the original, I may still get it though

Play the first one cos its ace. Don't think you have to though

Definitely worth playing the first one. Not sure what console you have but there's a good "Ultimate Edition" on PS3 which has all the DLC included and can be had for around £20 if you shop around.
Not sure if Xbox do a similar version.

They do indeed and it's currently £17.99 from most places.

I'm loving DA and attempting to get it finished before DA2 comes out but I doubt that I will.

I cancelled my order for 2 as I still have the Ultimate Edition of 1 to play through! I'll get round to it eventually.

First one is a bit more difficult to play on consoles compared to the pc but is still definitely worth playing. The second one seems to play much better on consoles and if you believe everything you hear in the pc forum was designed specifically for consoles. :)

The story isn't a direct continuation as you play a different character, however you can import a game save which will contain your choices from the first game. Whether this will have a big impact on 2 is unclear but i suspect not.

DA 2 is crap from what I played on the demo. Never thought I'd say that since DA1 was amazing to me. It had innovative story telling with more unique openings depending on your character choice (race and class etc.) and even then it had a plot I would have liked to see more of but it moves from the story of your old characters, it gets rid of picking races, it gets rid of unique opening stories and adds nothing but a spammy and rather awful combat system that is real time. Massively disappointed.

Well according to that forum we all type thusly ...

herp a derpy derp derp.

The hatred toward consoles (and their players) from that forum is unbelievable in this day and age. Rabid fanboyism doesn't even cover it.

Anyway sorry for the ranting derailment ... back on topic, I still need to play my own copy of the ultimate edition too (played the normal version on 360 but now have a ps3 so going back through some old catalogue stuff). So many shiny games to get through, so little time!

The first takes a long time to get into. I lost count on the amount of times I started then gave up after a couple of hours. Stick with it and it delivers but it does take a while..

I have the first on the PC but I never finished playing it through. I don't really game on my PC anymore and so I was wondering if it'd be worth getting the first along with the extra DLC on 360 to play it through again. It was mentioned that it is more difficult to play on a console, but no reasons were given. What are they, and would it be worth me purchasing it again to play through on the 360? It is only £18 for the ultimate edition.

I purchased it again on the 360 since I decided to get the second one on that. The interface isn't great on consoles. Targeting your spells is more difficult due to no overhead camera and the menu system is a bit annoying. The actual difficulty levels are slightly easier on consoles compared to pc. Definitely worth £18 though.

It's pants on console compared to PC so don't bother.
