Blockpaving

Ask him if he'll stick any bodies you need disposing of under it without charging extra.

Do some research on the process, for example how deep he digs etc and what he uses for foundations, if this isnt done correctly then it will all go pear shaped over time, also ask if he is putting any drainage in if required.

Specify the weight of the vehicles you want the drive to support. Seriously, I'm not taking the mic. Our office car park has serious issues as we have 3" dips forming in the spaces where 4x4's park regularly!

got someone round tomorrow to give me a quote on getting my drive block paved

what questions should i ask him? and does anyone have any general advise?

Thanks

yeah he'll "advise" you, you need "advice" from us....

My advice is get a few quotes, ask him what he does differently, my nieghbour keeps getting the company back out to repair sunken bricks etc, see what after service he offers?

Ask what type of blocks etc he is using. Is he Marshalls registered? If not what sort of warranty are you getting with the driveway? Ask him how far down he is digging, what sort of baselayers, membranes etc is he using.

Ask him about drainage. I had extra "unforseen" costs in mine because in the initial quote he didn't mention drainage. If your driveway slopes onto the highway you will need planning permission unless you provide your own drainage and soakaway. He said that chances are no one from the council would notice and he would put it in without drainage if I wanted but I thought it wasn't worth the risk and it cost me a couple hundred extra.

Depth does'nt matter one bit, it depends what type of sub soil you have. If its good firm stable ground at six inches then that will be fine for laying them on. But you could have two foot of soft clay and he only digs down one foot you will still be laying them on soft clay
