selling my pc in the for sale section, this is not an advertisement thread, im just asking for solid advice cos im feeling a little regret. i own my own studio but im doing a degree so student life is taking its toll on finances, especially funding bodybuilding. i bought the pc back in november and its been the staple of everything ive done since, creating music, gaming, itunes, browsing. now i could most likely get about £1030 for it after paying 1400 and it would bring me out of debt, but then id end up with no pc, but i could get a laptop which means its portable for uni (music technology degree). whats your take, should i sell it and get a laptop, or should i keep it and weep and try and find a third job to 'sustain' myself ? ( haha see what i did there?)

Why pay for bodybuilding ??

Surely there most be loads & loads of things you can do for bodybuilding for free like running/ swimming/ press ups/ chin ups etc etc

then that wouldn't be body building, it would be running or swimming or doing pressups etc

well its a hobby of mine, my dream is to compete in the olympics, i train in an olympic gym, its actually the diet that is costing me the pretty penny. almost £170+ a month on lean meats and veggies.

1/ You wont get as much back as you expect, computers depreciate faster than that

2/ Your new laptop will be pitifully underpowered compared to the desktop

So, you'll free up two or three hundred quid, and end up with a much slower but portable computer. I vote for don't do it.

Food is indeed expensive, I went through ridiculous amounts while rowing.

Jon has a point, make money another way. It would just be like trying to take a 3 month old game back to a game shop you paid £40 but you will only get offered about £7. I say don't do it, for what you use a PC for a laptop would be a downgrade and probably just make you regret selling it even more.

yeh i'd definately keep it, i would very much doubt you'd get that much for a second hand pc.

I do music recording too and i swear by desktops, i hate having to use laptops, although it makes it portable you wont be able to get away with as smaller buffer sizes, and it will generally feel slower if you're using big projects.

I was in a similar boat a few months back. Was going to sell both my pride and joy pc and my £600 quid bike just to try to get square again. I would urge you not to, because you will regret doing it.

I've managed to get my self a job. You could just see about increasing overdrafts etc, opening a 2nd account and all that. Have to scrape the barrel as a student :)

some good points here, and yeah buffer size is brill atm, 0.2ms so playing is a pleasure.
i think ill keep my pc, i apply every day for jobs, youd think with me already having one and doing a degree im a worthy individual, but no, you walk past the shop and see some new random youve never seen before you applied after theyve taken on, doing a half assed job.

how do people work from home ? i have a sound design business i get paid quarterly from, but other than that, its a case of waiting every 3 month
