If you have an other idea around the same price it's fine

Throw us a bone here - what is the primary reason for the box?

photo or video editing, games, writing docs?
All have different demands on a monitor, let us know its main use and we can advise accordingly.

I don't blame you for not finding the deeply buried thread, but I've drawn this comparison before (or a very similar one between the B2430 and BenQ - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18196424&highlight=benQ+p2450+username_pcm2). The Samsung is a better monitor. But oh my it's creeping up in price - try to catch it on a this week only if you can?

I thought LED was the next new thing though wouldn't LCD be a step back or am I misinformed?

Just caught up in the evil marketing machine - that's what the manufacturers want you to think. There is some more information about LED backlighting on this thread. There are some links to PC Monitors and TFT Central with more detailed explanations of what exactly 'LED' currently refers to on monitors - it doesn't stop a monitor being LCD, it just means it's lit with a different backlight bulb type.
