After just replacing my banger of an old car with a Focus, I was curious about warranties. It's not something I have ever considered before, mainly due to driving a 14 year old Fiesta ;)

Are they actually worth it? Just had a quick look around and Warranty Direct have a quote of £280 for their MajorCare policy, including recovery, onward travel, car hire and overnight accommodation.

The car was registered 10/01 and has done just under 60k currently

The WD is probably the best including w&t

Did you leave them your mobile number, they phone you up the next day, tell them it's too expensive and they knock it down, mine started at £450 ish for the 70k+ mileage and the next day they knocked it down to £330 and added 13 months for 12 and upped the cover too under 70k and 30,000 miles a year

Heard good things about the service

What car?

Must be another company by the name of Warranty Direct.. see this is the thing. On one hand some people sing their praises.. brilliant service etc etc.. then if you just google Warranty Direct problems.. there is a litany of disgruntled people!

Just stick the £300 in the bank.

There isn't many jobs your car can through up in a year that will be covered.

I'm covering for piece of mind, auto gearbox failure and turbo failure both of those will set me back a grand +, the WD warranty will cost me a grand over three years so it's a gamble yes, but I will put 60 - 70 on a car that's already done 70k so the odds are in my favour, plus any MOT failure suspension problems are covered, in a big Auto Volvo 2.4 D5 TD S80 well worth the money
