sorry if this is the wrong place, but ive been having a little look round at capture cards for my PC, to record my xbox 360 gaming.

i have very little idea what makes a good capture card, but there are many people in the Trials HD(XBLA game) community who swear by Hauppauge at the high end of the market. my budget is around £150 (or whatever i can persuade my parents to spend on my Bday present)

ive been looking at this internal capture card by hauppauge, as it does everything i want, but i have literally no idea when it will be released.

i need it to be able to record in 720p resolution, as that is the maximum resolution of my TV

has anyone got any other suggestions?

Thats a nice budget there.
Have a look at the black magic intensity Pro (internal PCI card)
If you have an up'to'date PC with USB 3.0 then you could also look at the Black Magic Intensity Shuttle, which has a wider range of inputs.

I would swear by the hauppauge mate! Have one myself - it's really simple to use and the quality is decent for the 150 marker.

It's less hassle than an internal cap card, You also have the benefit of being able to use it round a mates.

Problem is if you want to play and Record via HDMI vs Component. Hauppauge HD PVR uses Component ONLY. But Blackmagic Intensity pro/Shuttle can use HDMI/Component/Composite and S Video i think, but they can be a bit of a hassle Drivers and Program wise.

Saving my pennys to get the Intensity Pro :D

HD PVR and Intensity Pro are definitely the main / only capture cards at thatend of the market to get. Don't know much about the Intensity Shuttle, but I know a lot of people with the PVR and Intensity Pro, mostly people who live stream.

If you are going to be using component for the Intensity Pro, get the big Intensity Pro cable, thats a must.

There is however 1 major issue with the Intensity Pro hdmi wise, and that my friends is hdcp which is a protection protocol and as such, any device plugged in to that hdmi on the Intensity Pro that conforms to hdcp will not be recordable at all.

Looking at you tube the Xbox360 is working with it no problem on hdmi, ps3 does not work on hdmi.

Yeah its kind of a shame that Sony go to all the work of Security for it to be blown up :P You can use Component via the BMIP for PS3 though, And still get 1080i MAX resoloution.

Hey mate, none of them would fancy recording some of my Halo reach/3 and Black Ops gameplays?

Hard to find people to record for other people :(

Thanks
