Knowing how many people in here are culinary experts I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask:
I'm making a man out of icing (to top a cake) & whilst clothes are made with ready-rolled coloured icing I need an appropriate flesh tone. To achieve this do I buy white icing & use food colouring to alter it's appearance?

Not sure you can buy pink colouring - just add red colouring a drop at a time until you get the shade you're after.

Edit: maybe I should've checked before posting! You can indeed get pink colouring!

Funnily enough the figure also requires blood but i've gone for red food colouring to achieve this rather than waste my own, far too valuable

just use real skin and soak it in sugar water for a few days

Should I ever need to do a 'Silence of the Lambs' themed dessert I'll be sure to obtain some skin, thanks.

do you have a cake/baking shop nearby? Look at getting some colour paste, rather than liquid colouring, it seems to work a lot better with icing (well, does for the OH anyway)
