Shame you feel that way.

To get over the boring old stories and characters of S1, perhaps in S2 they'll inject lots of car chases, lasers, monsters, robots, explosions or a zombie or two to keep people interested... Can't just have a decent story, can we?

Yeah you can, it just has to seem like it's going somewhere...

Amazing, everything is top notch, boring maybe but compare it to some of the crap coming out on BBC/ITV this is like a movie week after week

also the women, nice.

I love it so far. It's nice seeing a well thought out program.

Now all they need is to cast Christopher Walken in some role. He would fit in perfectly!

Really enjoying this series so far. It's helped by an excellent soundtrack, rounded off in part by Loudon Wainwright III's beautiful rendition of Carrickfergus at the end of episode 5.

Now onto episode 6. :)

You're probably right. However I enjoy watching brilliant acting by people that I know less well. I don't know whether it's because I can view their characters from a clean slate and am not constantly picturing them in their other roles..

I'm really really into it now, it is a slow starter but the quality, acting and general precision of the series is amazing.

The moment when "Princeton" asks Al what his name is and he said "Al Capone" was just epic.

I watched the first episode the other night and was left really underwhelmed.

So far I can't see how it can beat the likes of Dexter etc to be any ones top program.

Does it really get better?

I admit I had that same feeling the first time, but then I watched it again and then continued with the rest and it just grabbed me. That first time I'd had a few and it seemed to drag a bit. I'm glad I gave it another shot because it's turned out to be one of my most favourite shows ever.

Loving it, sure its not all chases and bullets but thats part of its appeal for me. Its seeing the dawn of the mob so to speak, how it all began. The politics involved as well as the illegal activities. The way people lived and thought at the time. The way some of the people are so dismissive of World War 1 and not understanding the horrors of it is brilliant. Buscemi is great in his role but Al Capone is the show stealer so far imo, though I am beginning to quite like Jimmy too.

what makes it even better for me is that I know Atlantic City so recognise landmarks, building styles etc

In the lesbian scene, that was Jimmy's wife and mum wasn't it? :D

Was it?

*SPOILER BELOW*

I thought it was Jimmys wife and the wife of that photographer from earlier in the series. Jimmy thought his wife was having a fling with the photographer, but looks like he got it totally wrong and she is actually having a fling with the photographers wife :D
