Hi all.

I need a pair of tyres for my civic and I'm after some help deciding on what ones to get. The tyre size I need is 205/45/17, which rules out a good chunk of the 'top' tyres. I currently have a full set of Vredestein Ultrac tyres on it, but unfortunatly Vredestein have stopped doing these tyres in my size. The Ultracs have been great, offering good levels of grip in all conditions and wearing well. Due to the stiff sidewalls the turn in is sharp, and the car feels very stable.

I'm after a pair that will offer me the same/beter levels of performance I've had from the Verds, so what do you recommend?

One point to note. I'm selling the car within the next few months so dont want to spend big money, however I don't want to skimp and ruin the handling.

I bought Ultrac Sessantas for my old EP3 but I think I could only get them in 215/40 instead. They say the EP3 wheels is actaully 215 wide anyway and the small sidewall bring it back in line with OEM size. I think it puts you out 2% slower though.

Check the CTRO tyre forum. If in doubt however, Bridgestones will always be the 205/45 choice of tyre for the EP3 really.

215/40/17 brings a lot of good tyres into the equation, but the lower sidewall makes the tyres look a little lost in the arches when running standard ride height (12mm height difference compared to 205/45) and the ride is harsher. Plus the fact I've got 2 good 205/45 tyres on it I dont want mixed sizes back and front.

The bridgestone potenza re040 is what they come out of the factory on, but wet grip isn't reported to be very good.

The bridgestones are what I have at the moment and wet grip is not the best but they are great in the dry. The ride on 215/40 is pretty harsh. But the advantage is more choice and slightly cheaper tyres at the 215/40 if in doubt stick with the standard tyres.
