demon souls

Love it, absolutely love it. Nowhere near as hard (for me) as most people make out it is, probably only died about 10 times legitimately throughout the entire game (and about 50 times voluntarily when I was harvesting souls while bored). Keep meaning to go back and do a NG+ at some point, but always find myself with something new to play instead. Can't wait for the sequel though, which has been confirmed and will be multi-platform. Hopefully it'll be harder and more challenging than the original.

10 times? is that all?;)

You've previously stated that you disabled the multiplayer component of the game though, the bit that really made the game hard. Its not really fair to say it wasn't difficult enough when you disabled the challenging part of the game!

That is true, but I disabled it because I didnt want to invade anyone elses game, didn't want to get help from anyone else, and found it annoying when I was right near the end of world 1-4 I think it was, literally right by the end of the world, and got invaded by a Black Phantom. Even though I had a good record against them (2 wins and 2 defeats) I just found it really annoying. At least I killed that one though, forced the git off a bridge :D

Both invading and being helped were optional, they only happened if you chose to do them by either using a black stone to invade, or touching a blue marker for help.

The invasion stuff is what i loved so very much about the game. You'd be at a critical point and 'A Black Phantom Has Invaded' and you'd know you had only a couple of mins to finish off the enemy and then prepare to defend yourself. Also once i was being stalked by a black phantom for ages and age, i kept seeing him disappearing around corners etc, he chose his moment well and attacked when i least expected it.

In NG+ asking for help is pretty much a necessity as Black Phantom invasions are constant. You usually end up with yourself fighting your way through the level (which is much harder in NG+) while your blue phantoms watch your back and battle the black phantoms. Good fun.

How does the level up system work in this game? I got absolutely destroyed on my first go at this game earlier lol. Sorted out the combat controls etc then met a devil knight guy who 1 shotted me with an unblockable charging attack. Such an unforgiving game and I've lost thousands of souls due to dying due to walking right into extremely hard enemies

The 'one shotter' is an enemy to be avoided until you're stronger. You can't even open the door he's guarding until near the end of the game.

You can level up after killing the first boss, the blind woman in the nexus lets you spend soul points to increase your skills. You think losing a couple of thousand of souls is bad? Wait until later on when you can easily lose over 100,000.

Took me a few attempts at the one-shotter dude to realise that he was better left well alone!
Yeah, it's definitely best to leave the Red Eyed Knight well alone until you're move levelled up, and more used to the game. He's so tough for any early level characters it's just not worth the risk IMO.

I was really excited about playing this game, but I'm very disappointed with it. The hard learning curve at first was great, but it has turned from airing on the side of caution into a giant middle finger at every corner. cleared 1-1, 1-2 and 2-1 with no problems. 2-2 it took me for ever to find the boss, and over 70 attempts to kill him as the stupid character would not do what I told him to do.

Decided to pick it up again after almost throwing my PS3 out the window and it's got me again. 3-1 die die and die some more. 4-1 got about 10 mins in before being gang banged multiple times, moved on to the last area which started off well and then it turned into more of the character being stupid. He ran off the ledge for no reason so many times, walk onto a platform only to have it shatter and get eviscerated by 5 ghouls at once and then finally a tough enemy, only for my stupid character to swan dive off the bridge. Thanks! bugger this game :(
