Train travel to Heathrow

As I said, Heathrow Connect. HALF the price.

St Pancras to Paddington is 30 minutes, plus waiting time and faffing about. Won't actually be any quicker, plus more expensive.

I think I'll be able to handle the tube. Cost is about 5 quid and goes straight from St Pancras, only one change for the whole journey.

St Pancras to Paddington isn't 30 minutes at all, it is actually 12 minutes on the tube.

Tube to Paddington then Heathrow Connect is more pleasant and much quicker.

I am considering this. However, the Connect trains are every half hour, miss one by a minute and it's a half hour wait. You're right the St Pancras to Paddington journey can be 12 ish minutes, but some of the journeys are 30 minutes depending on when you travel (the journey planner states that from my town at the time I want to travel, the St Pancras - Paddington journey will be 30 mins)

All in all, including having to change one extra time, mooching about between trains etc it could easily be longer that just getting the tube. Not to mention the extra cost.

As recommended by fox and others on here - get the heathrow connect

the Piccadilly line is the most unpleasant rat filled train experience on the london underground. I wouldn't even want to die in Hounslow!

The best imo if you work in the airport is the heathrow express/connect because you can get 50% off - well you could before :)

Hey guys, I have a couple of other questions if those in the know wouldn't mind answering.

Assuming there are no problems / delays, typically how long does it take to retrieve your luggage and get through customs etc when arriving back to Heathrow? Say from time of getting off the plane to being able to walk out the airport??

Secondly, if I have a pre-bought advance underground ticket valid for the picadilly line from Heathrow underground to St Pancras, but I decided to jump on the Heathrow express instead to get back to London, would my earlier tube ticket be valid for travel from Paddington to St Pancras? Or would I have to buy another tube ticket just for that last part of the journey?

Ta :)
