Office Terror Alert Raised.

Well, I'm not going to be drawn, as I didn't make the statement. However... I took Brian to mean while gun crime seems to be an aberration and always hysterically (sic~ sensational) newsworthy, Londoners seem to shrug off bomb-scares like yesterdays... or is it todays... fish and chip paper

I don't think he was referencing the Mendez shooting in any oblique way ;)

That's what I meant. You worded it better :p

I love how in the UK when someone gets shot we're all "OMG OMG OMG OMG". Bomb disposal robot in the street, "meh".

But the two are not comparable.

Someone getting shot is comparable to a bomb going off. (two life threatening incidents)

Or a bomb disposal robot in the street is comparable to an armed officer in a street. (two potential preventers of life threatening incidents)

Something is going down just outside my work on Tottenham Court Road. Reports are wildly varied; hostage situation, bomb scare or even someone throwing computers out of an office window.

EDIT:

Man throwing furniture out of window in central London building

A police hostage negotiator has been sent to an office on London's Tottenham Court Road after reports of a man throwing furniture out of a window, Scotland Yard said today.

The police added that the disturbance is not terror related.

Friday melt down?

Twitter is all over it. Not as exciting as previously though they have cordoned off quite a large section just for someone recycling his computers.

Holy relevant thread revival Batman as there is a bloke with what's been described as a gas canister strapped to himself holed up there.
