I envisage one of two things.

1. Jobs had to hire Fry to try and mask the meh-ness of the iPad 2.
2. Apple has been very coy and secretive and perhaps all these "rumours" are totally wrong and what they come out with is something not expected.

I'm happy enough with iPad v1 at the moment (for what I use) however I would love one of those covers - does anyone know if they will work with iPad 1?

I predict 512MB rather than 1GB. I think it'll be one of the areas where Apple's cut corners to keep the price down.

If you mean that Apple's figured out that people buy tablets based on 'lifestyle factors' like design, range of apps, battery life and price rather than on specifications, then yes, I agree.
