Corsair XMS3 8GB kit - looks like one dimm is faulty

So... I bought some XMS3 dimms from OCUK back in january for my sandy bridge build and was really happy with the initial results. However, after installing multiple games and apps my machine started randomly crashing apps and occasionally causing blue screens of death. After a rebuild of Windows, seeing the same issues, and testing of individual dimms i've come to the conclusion that one of the dimms is faulty.

So i raised a call with Corsair (probably should have phoned OCUK first) and they've asked me to send the dimms back under an RMA to the Netherlands. DOH! irritating as i'll be without a PC for gaming for a week or so, and doubly irritating that i'm supposed to pay for it to be sent to them (cheapest I've found is £25 to ship it). Does this sound right? Is this normal practice for RMA's?

Royal Mail will be much cheaper, think it is £4 insured up to £45 or £11 for more than that.

Didn't take long to arrive when I did the same sending to OCZ (Netherlands as well). Biggest delay was replacement was sent from Taiwan.

looks like i'll be popping to the local post office to send them on their way then...

pitty i can't just send one of the dimms back...oh well!

thanks for the quick response

I'm pretty sure OCUK would have been able to sort this out infinitely quicker and cheaper for you.

This.

And yes, they're matched pairs, so both sticks have to go back.

On the upside, an interrim 4GB DDR3 set is dirt cheap right now, take a look at the OCZ on OcUK.
