Hello all,

Think this is the right place to post this lol.

Basically I have a small hole in the back of my front tooth due to plaque build up, she then told me what they are going to do is to cut around it and rebuild the tooth. now by cut does she mean file the tooth down? she also said they will get it the best color match to my teeth as well.

I thought I would only need a filling.

Never had this sort of treatment before so if anyone can advise me.

I thought dentists use a drill?

Don't know if this is technically medical advice, but I don't think those kinds of threads are allowed.
 
Yeah it'll still be a filling but won't file it down. She'll drill away the decay at the back, without touching the front of the tooth (if possible). Then she'll match it with tooth-coloured material
 
file around it to get rid of the infected area and then fill it in....or would you like them to keep the infected area so you can feed your pigeons with it.

Yeah this I had a tooth the left of my front tooth with same decay, just drilled out the bad stuff, put in a filling and job done, the filling came out and the tooth is still fine now, so sometimes Im not sure what dentists playing at, unless the tooth grew back :D

why didnt you ask her when she told you?
 
I went to the dentist last week and was told i have a small hole starting in the back of one of my upper teeth, he called it a 'cavity' so i need to ring up to arrange a 30minute appointment for my very first filling :( still haven't rang to book in yet but its gonna cost me £46 which i suppose could be worse :(
