What clocks better i5 2500k or i7 2600k

If I'm casting a game (basically I suppose running video encoding software while simultaneously gaming) would the i7/i5 difference suddenly become significant?

he he I would not advise doing both at once. If it is for everyday use go with the i5 and you will be running 4.5ghz all day long(on a good cooler), and as predicament said, there is little to no difference gaming wise.

You will be well happy with either

game casting involves HAVING to encode the video as it streams it and obviously can't stream it without encoding - hence why it's currently impossible with my current dual core as its just too cpu intensive for it to cope =( E.g. Ustream

The 2600k has 8 threads and 8mb cache where as the 2500k only has 4 threads and 6mb of cache! So I've gone for the 2600k, will be better all round and in the near future when games start using multi threaded technology it will shine!
