Hello there. Need some ocuk advise please. Im asking on behalf of my mate here. As i was like WTF i dont know. lol

One of my mate would like to travel abroad. (Bangladesh) With his Mrs. Just the two of them. They have no kids.

What he would like to know is, His Mrs passport is getting renewed. And on that passport she has her (ILR) - indefinite leave to remain in uk Visa.

Once new passport comes through the post, her old passport will be out of date. And her ILR will be on the old passport not on the new one.

Question is, Is it compulsory to transfer the Visa to the new passport? Or can she use the Old passport using it as evidence that she has ILR and of course using the new passport at the same time when they travel abroad?

Thanks.

I can only comment from my own experience. That doesn't work here in China. If you have a visa in a passport which is no longer valid, the visa is also invalid.

Here in China, you must have a valid visa inside a valid passport to enter the country.

Keep the old passport and show it as required.

This.

Also if you get a nice enough person at the UK airport they will put a stamp in the new passport that says "there is an ILR in the old passport, issue number blah blah" that way you don't need the old one again

Thanks foe the links. I will pass the info over to my mate. By looks/sound of it they should be alright.
But im still gona make them ring UK Border Agency up.
